The Best Vacation Destinations in Massachusetts: Kittery

What a place! Kittery really makes you feel you've gone back in time with cobbled streets, pubs, and antique shops. That's because it was settled in 1623. The town calls itself to be the "Gateway to Maine." And it proves that New England really does hold the best destinations for ideal, short-term summer vacations.
Why not start off at The Kittery Outlets, right at the entrance to Kittery (http://www.thekitteryoutlets.com), with over 120 famous stores you could save 20%. There's plenty of free parking, and is within minutes to some great beaches and restaurants. Or, if you want rustic, there's Lightfoot Farms LLC on Wakefield Road, stocking high quality Alpaca items including their own wonderful yarns, and the finest exotic animals. And how about some more of Kittery's history; go back to 10,000 years of native culture, history and art at the Abbe Museum. This award winning place features hands-on programs, changing exhibits and workshops taught by Native artists. Also, Kittery holds some of the most exquisite early architecture in America, such as the Sir William Pepperrell House, constructed in 1733, and the Lady Pepperrell House, finished in 1760.
On a more historic note, Kittery holds the nation's first federal navy yard; The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. It was established in 1800 on Fernald's Island. It is connected to the mainland by two bridges and was used to rebuild the USS Constitution, and build the Civil War USS Kearsarge. Its still in use today and can be viewed at a distance.
As for places to stay, DAYS INN KITTERY is a good start on the BYPASS. Rooms start at $94 a night per person and all rooms have good standard facilities; although the policy is that you check in at 3pm and check out at 11am. It is however close to not just The Kittery Outlet, but also Strawberry Banke Museum, York Beach, and PWM - Portland International Airport
Next up is Rodeway Inn. It features cable TV, and is quite close to the water park and Hampton beach. Getting more expensive though at $99.00 a night. And then there is COACHMAN INN, across the street from Kittery Outlet Malls. They boast 43 beautifully decorated guest rooms with extended cable with free HBO, hair dryers and data ports for convenience at their newly renovated first class inn. There's also an outdoor swimming pool for relaxation, serving supreme complimentary continental breakfast every morning with coffee, tea and hot chocolate 24 hours a day.
What more can I say? This place is wonderful!

Kittery is actually IN Maine. Is that a typo in the title? Should it read "from Massachusetts"?
