Well, this past Valentine's Day, she had to work, so I told her that I would pick her up so we could go out to dinner. I packed up a cooler with some of her favorite food and also some sweat pants and comfortable clothes for her to wear. I then got some flowers and a blindfold. Also packed away in my truck bed were a couple of blankets, a CD player, some candles, a tarp in case it rained and a flashlight. Afterwards I headed over to the car wash to get my car washed and cleaned and ready to go.
I got to her work and she had just finished up and was the only one there. She asked where we were going and I told her it was going to be a surprise. I asked her to wear the blindfold so she would not see where we were headed. As I drove through town and over to the beach where our romance had begun, I started to get goose bumps remembering it like it was yesterday, even though it had been nearly 2 years. There is nothing that comes closer than reliving the moment you first knew she was the one.
When we got to the beach I asked her to hold my arm as I walked over with some of the blankets. I laid the blankets out and had her sit on it. She was wondering what was going on, but she had already figured out we were at the beach because of the sand between her toes. I ran back to the truck to get everything else. Laying out the food, extra blankets, candles and CD player, I asked her to take her blindfold off.
Words cannot express the look she had on her face as we sat at the very spot that we had shared our first hug, the place where we had first held each other and knew that we had found the love of our lives. Remember to take care of the one you love this year. Show her just how much you love her and how much you care for her. Sometimes in the craziness of the world we live in, we forget to tell people that we love them. We forget to let people know how much we love them. We forget to tell them how much we care. Let's not forget this year. I hope that you find love this Valentines Day as we did that first moonlit night together.
