I enjoy writing, and it makes it even better when I am able to be paid doing what I love. Writing can become very tedious if you are writing for payment anywhere up to $25 dollars per assignment. If those monthly bills are getting you down, because you really could use some extra cash to get things you need, you should definitely try going for the big payouts with writing.

I've already done a few articles for particular markets where you can make money with publishers, but there are other really good ways to get paid writing. I am going to start with my favorite: Copywriting.

Anything that you get in the mail that is trying to get you to buy a product or donate to a worthy cause is a sales letter. Someone is paid thousands of dollars to write that letter. Yes, I said "thousands". Many companies need people to do copywriting for them to sell their products. Every so often I get a booklet by mail describing how 'desperately'copywriters are needed.

To be honest, you can make as little or as much as you want copywriting once you are established as a copywriter. Some jobs, if they are small and will only take a couple of hours to write will bring you a few hundred dollars, say maybe $500 or $600. A copywriting job that will take two or more weeks to write will bring you anywhere from $10,000 to $40,000 or more.

How much money can you make? Well, if your copywriting is good, people are going to give you lots of job opportunities. I will give you an example that they gave me in the booklet. So say you earn $5000 a letter. You write two letters a month, that will give you $120,000 a year. There are also extra bonuses. Do you ever get the same piece of mail over and over again? That means that the letter is doing extremely well. The company mails out a lot of copies and it is what is known as a control.

A control for a copywriter is complete heaven! Why? From every control that is sent out, the copywriter gets a royalty. So if you write 24 letters a year, lets say that at least 3 of your letters are controls, so you have 8 controls a year. The standard for each piece of mail is about two cents. Companies mail out up to 3 million controls each year that are a success.

To cut that in half, let's say your letters are mailed out to 500,000 people. So four million letters@ 2 cents a piece is 8 million cents or $80,000 royalties. When you add in your $120,000 a year, that makes it a grand total of $200,000 a year. Writing letters from the comfort of your home.
