With the advent of modern technology, almost every home is now with a computer or a laptop. This electronic device that we use every day can be made even better by following the steps below so that you can speed up your PC and boost its performance even more.

Defragment your computer. This process actually helps speed up your computer by compressing the existing files and freeing up disk space. Although the process takes several hours, defragmenting your system is a very important process and the results are well worth it in the end.

Add RAM. Adding additional memory is another great way to speed up your computer's performance. Try adding another 1GB of RAM to your computer is a great way to speed it up.

Clear your cache. After surfing the internet or before you shut down your computer, it is a good idea to clear your ache of temporary internet files. You free up disk space and make your computer run faster by doing so.

Get good antivirus. Install and update a good antivirus software to keep your computer free from viruses that can potentially slow your computer and cause it to crash.

Get spyware removal software. A lot of people have spywares present in their computers and have no idea about it. If your computer is running slow, opening websites you didn't open, or get popup windows even when you're offline means you already have spyware on your PC. Get rid of those and notice the improved performance of your PC.

Uninstall unnecessary software. At one point, you will get tired of some of the programs you have on your PC, like games for instance. Uninstall the programs you do not use anymore and free up space on your hard disk. Defragment afterwards, and watch how your PC will respond to the extra disk space available.

Run the disk cleanup wizard. If you're running Windows, go to Start, then Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, then click on Disk Cleanup. This will delete all cookies, temporary internet files, and other unnecessary files from your hard drive that slows your PC down.

Check your Startup programs. When your computer boots up, some programs automatically start along with it. Remove those from the startup menu and your computer will boot up a lot faster. You can always start them by clicking on their icons anyway.

Don't blow your hard earned money on software that will do the same things you have the ability to easily do on your own! By utilizing the above steps, you'll be speeding around on the web in no time!

I use a system to do this. I use System Mechanic by Iolo. I used to do it all manually, but that takes so much time. Glad to have my System Mechanic.
