The Best Weapons to Use in Red Faction: Guerrilla

I have been playing Red Faction: Guerrilla on my Xbox 360 for the past two weeks. When I play a game campaign for the first time, I always set it to the highest level of difficulty. This proves to be quite a challenge at times. In Red Faction, your character is able to carry four weapons at a time. The challenge is deciding what four weapons make the best combination to beat the game. Here are some suggestions of weapons to keep with you at all times to ensure your success.

The Sledgehammer

The sledgehammer is the first tool and weapon that you get in Red Faction: Guerrilla. As basic as it seems, you will find that it is an extremely valuable tool. I recommend keeping this with you everywhere you go. Throughout the game, you will be required to destroy buildings and fight EDF (Earth Defense Force) troops. This weapon will destroy anything in its swing radius. The best part is that the sledgehammer requires no ammo. This can be beneficial when all of your other weapon items run out of ammo.

Rocket Launcher

The rocket launcher can be useful for bringing down buildings and taking out enemy vehicles. The rocket launcher has several upgrades that can be purchased at a safe house including - additional ammo, multiple rockets launched simultaneously, and heat seeking. In later levels, you will encounter plenty of airships. These can be hard to fight against. However, a rocket launcher with heat seeking capability makes them no problem.

Arc Welder

The arc welder is an powerful weapon that fires a short range electric charge that stuns and eventually kills enemy soldiers. Upgrades for this weapon include increased ammo capacity and selective targeting. Selective targeting allows you to target only enemy troops without killing innocent civilians and Red Faction troops. The best feature of the arc welder is the ability to kill EDF troops inside a vehicle. Once the troops are dead, you can hijack the vehicle. This is especially great for hard to tackle vehicles such as tanks.

Thermobaric Rocket

This is the ultimate mass killing weapon. This rocket releases a huge explosion. Not only will it explode on impact, but it can be detonated mid air by pressing the fire button again. With this weapon, you can easily take out an entire building with one or two rockets. Against ground troops, you can fire the rocket above their heads and detonate just as it passes over them.
