The Best Websites to Find Free Educational Worksheets

Stormy Brooke Swain
If you have a child that is home-schooled or needs extra help in school, you will enjoy these websites, when you are looking for educational worksheets. There is usually no need to purchase a subscription for worksheets on the Internet, because there are so many free sites. I have subscribed to a few sites, because they had specific reading or math programs that worked for my two home-schooled children, but other than that I've never spent any money on worksheets. Free is always the way to go if your child needs extra help with a certain subject in school, print off a few educational worksheets, each weekend and do them together or follow along with them to tutor your child in a subject. These sites, I've used for years, most of the best ones are geared toward elementary and preschool aged children, for high school aged children I usually create my own, which keeps the worksheet personal and focuses exactly on what they need to concentrate on the most.

School Express

I personally love this site, and still use it for the worksheet makers. If you have a child that likes flash cards or you want to make word walls for their learning area, you can do these things with this site for free. There are thousands of free educational worksheets for your child to enjoy on this site. There are several great free worksheet categories, such as writing, phonics, ages 3-6 and kindness to animals. You will also find free educational games, such as word hunts, states and capitals and typing exercises. If you are interested in additional free educational worksheets, School Express has links under sites for teachers with many educational resources, to find exactly what you are looking for.

ABC Teach
http://abcteach.com

This educational site provides some free worksheets and additional worksheets to people who want to pay for an inexpensive membership. Aside from the educational worksheets, I love the portfolio and teaching extras sections. I've found several resources for home-schooling my children on this site and consider it one of the most well-rounded for a teacher or parent who teaches elementary or jr. high aged children.

Reading A-Z
http://www.readinga-z.com

When I taught my son to read, years ago I used this website. It does actually cost more money now, but they do provide free educational samples, for the general public to use. My son had a hard time learning to read, and with this program learned to read in a matter of days. It's under $100 for the year, but I would download and print some of the free books and worksheets first, to see if they work the best for your child. It may be worth the fee, if your child has a hard time with reading. If you decide not to purchase, you can still utilize the free educational samples they have, and incorporate them into your lessons or homework help.

I am happy to personally recommend these sites, most of them are what gave me great ideas, lessons or helped me when I didn't know how to get through a subject with my children. Most people who home-school don't realize how easy it is to build a curriculum based on a grade level and reach goals with free educational worksheets. If you don't home-school, but your child needs extra help in a certain subject, print off some free educational worksheets and watch them grow as you teach them. They will appreciate the extra help and attentiveness.
