The Best Websites for Watching TV Shows

Stormy Brooke Swain
I almost never watch TV, but I will try to catch my favorite TV shows on the Internet, when I have time to watch them. I love having the ability to watch a show on my laptop, when ever I want to, or as a break to work. There are several TV channels that do this, and if you want to watch a show from last season you have several options, like Netflix and Amazon. Some stations don't offer all of the shows that they have on TV, but they ad more each year. Most TV shows are available on the TV station's website after the day or night they air, which is just fine if you don't have cable or you can't remember when your favorite show is on TV.

ABC

ABC is the one I use the most, because my favorite shows are Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. ABC also offers free episodes of Lost, 20/20 and many more. You usually have to install the player and then restart your browser to watch shows, but it's worth it. I find that at different times the show may run a little slow, but I think that's because I have an older computer that doesn't do well with video. My tip for this site would be to close all other programs and be patient with the TV show, as it may be a little slow to load or buffer if your computer is older than a few years.

NBC

My kids love NBC, because they get to watch Heros and they are very big fans of the TV show. This site offers some extra videos for some of the TV shows, such as interviews or behind the scenes. NBC is pretty easy to navigate for a viewing of a free episode. Choose the TV show you want to watch and then you choose full episodes. The last 4-10 episodes are usually on the site for each show that offers Internet viewing. There is an option to make comments on the show, or share the show with others for those who like to express an opinion about their favorite moments.

Fox

Fox offers the Internet viewing public full episodes of TV shows like Prison Break, Hell's Kitchen and Bones. There are also shows such as Kitchen Nightmares, that have a whole season of episodes, so if you are interested, you never have to know when it's on TV, just schedule a time to watch them on the Fox website. Fox is the best site for keeping older episodes on longer, I appreciate this, because I can get weeks or even months behind on a TV show I love to watch.

Utilizing these websites to watch TV shows is a great idea for marathons with friends or family, or work breaks if you work in your home. The greatest idea about watching TV on the Internet is the lack of commercial time and the ability to fast forward, rewind or pause if you need to. Fox, ABC and CBS all have good quality websites and offer something different to those who still want to watch TV shows, but don't wish to buy cable or even own a TV.
