While located in rural West Virginia, West Liberty State College does have access to a thriving night life. While it's known for being a dry campus and drinking in dorm rooms is ill-advised (yet often practiced) there are many establishments close to the college.

Bubba's

Located on the campus of nearby Bethany College, Bubba's offers the typical college club experience. The upstairs room serves as a gathering place and dining room while the downstairs offers dancing, karaoke, and pool. The most popular night is Thursday which offers specials on Bubba's famous chicken wings as well as an early-bird special on drinks called "Beat the Clock" where draught beer starts out at $0.25 a cup and goes up $0.10 every hour from six to eleven. Specials are also offered on pitchers and mixed drinks. The downstairs can get a bit overcrowded on Thursday night, but fights rarely break out. Getting back to West Liberty after a night at Bubba's can be challenging, but it's usually not hard to find a kind-hearted DD heading in that direction.

Lancelot's Café

Located next to the Post Office in West Liberty, Lancelot's Café is an extension of the local general store. Boasting a full menu of everything from soups to general bar fair to deli sandwiches it's not unusual to see students and faculty alike taking a relaxing lunch break on the open-air deck. Less than a mile from campus, Lancelot's offers beer and liquor and is decorated in a medieval theme. There is a pool table and several "touch" games to keep patrons busy. This business is busiest on Saturday nights when locals and students who are stranded on campus come to have some fun. A very relaxed environment and the owner Rory is a delight to deal with.

Ye Olde Alpha

Located 10 miles down Rt. 88 in the Woodsdale area of Wheeling, WV it's not uncommon to see many students from both West Liberty State College and Wheeling Jesuit University at "the Alpha." The main bar area is awkwardly small and often becomes overcrowded, so most people hang out in the pool room complete with two pool tables, ample seating, and a jukebox. There is also a dining room next to the bar which is generally taken by eating patrons, but once the kitchen closes at 11pm the tables are fair game. They also have a smoking room with state-sponsored poker machines and current sporting events playing on several TVs. It can be impossible to get service on busy nights. Most consider it a "starter" bar, a place people come when they are figuring out where to party for the evening.

The best part about partying at West Liberty State College is the small community. If you go out by yourself you are bound to run into somebody you know.
