Description, Amenities
The resort hotel is situated directly on the beach, with the rooms located about 150 feet from the Pacific Ocean. All of the rooms have a balcony, where you can experience the dramatic view and sounds of the waves, with sea gulls flying by.
The rooms also have refrigerators, microwave ovens, remote control televisions, with king or queen size beds. Some of the rooms have Jacuzzi tubs and kitchenettes. There is an outdoor heated pool with a spa. Meeting and banquet rooms are also available.
The staff at the hotel is helpful, and will address all of your concerns and give you information about weather conditions or what's going on in the area at any given time.
Rates
I have always found the prices to be a great value. You can get a room for as low as $104.00 during the week, which has the balcony overlooking the ocean. I don't know where else you can find this. They have Jacuzzi rooms for $175.00 and a two-room suite with kitchen for $225.00. I would recommend calling their toll-free number and allow them to help you select what would best for you.
The General Vicinity
Brookings is located only 6 miles from the northern California border, near the Redwood Forest. It's a scenic drive going from Oregon or from northern California. Brookings is a small community, with some interesting shops and restaurants.
What to Do There
The beach itself is nice and clean, suitable for beachcombing, nice walks, sports activities and swimming in the water, which is relatively warm. Harris Beach State Park is just up the road and this is very popular. People go to the Oregon coast to watch winter storms, to watch the water crashing against the rocks and to experience the spring fragrance. There are also dramatic sunsets and interesting trails for hiking, which lead upward to terrific views.
Other activities and attractions include fishing, art galleries, theaters, performing arts, museums, antiques and more.
I go over there when I need to escape from it all, and when I need time to work on some creative projects. It's a great romantic getaway for people who live on the west coast and for those from farther away who want to take the opportunity to spend some extra time and visit someplace unique. I definitely recommend checking it out!
