The Best and Worst Pre-Packaged Diabectic Foods on the Market

Candus
Are you diabetic and have to watch what you eat? Trying to keep an eye on your sugar intake can be quite challenging especially when there is so much temptation out there for us to indulge in. But in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle as well as have great tasting foods, it's a battle sometimes to find just the right foods that we can enjoy with less sugars. I have compiled a list of good and bad prepackaged items for diabetics.

1.) This is Smucker's Red Raspberry Jam which has lower sugar than the other leading brands. This jam is delicious and you receive 25 calories from a serving size and you'll get only 5 grams of sugar with this jam which makes it a very good choice. There is only 6 grams of total carbohydrates in it as well. Plus they also market other flavors as well but I have not tried them yet. You can check out their other nutritional values on all their sugar free jams at their web site at www.smuckers.com.

2.) Mrs Butterworth's makes a great tasting sugar free pancake syrup. If you would like to try something that has less sugar yet still maintains it's superb flavor then this is the one you'll want to try. they actually have one that is lighter in sugar but i might suggest you try the sugar free one, because it still is thick and not runny and keeps it's flavor.

3.) Glucerna is a company that knows how to please it's customers. They have come up with many products that diabetics can enjoy and not worry about their diabetes. they make cereal bars, shakes, snack bars, cereal and mini snack bars. You can check out each nutritional value on their web site at www.glucerna.com.

4.) Another great product on the market that targets those of us with diabetes is Fifty50. This company has come up with over 25 products of food and candies we can enjoy. They make peanut butter, jellies and jams as well as hard candy and candy bars and wafer cookies. I love the assorted candies when I need that pick me up during the day I can pop one of these in my mouth and satisfy my sweet tooth. You can learn more about their amazing products at their web site at www.Fifty50foods.com.

5.) Murray's makes sugar free cookies and crackers but I would not suggest you try these unless you are just looking to cut back on some of your sugar in your diet. These cookies still contain quite a bit of sodium as well as 8 grams of total fats. They do however have a large selection of cookies you could try and I would recommend you really read carefully the labels before buying. Their web site is www.murraysugarfree.com.

6.) Hy-Top is another great brand that makes some pretty good syrup. They have a syrup that is sugar free and has a pretty good flavor to it. You can also log onto their website for many of their other sugar free products and find out where you can pick up this syrup and many other amazing products by Hy-Top today. www.hy-top.com.

It is always wise to make sure you read all labels before purchasing anything. I have been mislead many times in the past by just reading sugar free and get it home and start reading closer and come to realize it is not actually sugar free and that I would have been better off purchasing the regular ones.

I recommend as with anything that deals with your health, to check with your physician before trying any of these products. Sometimes we can eat to many of one thing and the next time we have our labs done it sure shows up and let's us know what we were or were not doing properly.
