The Best Xbox Video Games

Thomas Kearo
Xbox video games are awesome, but there are a lot of great titles that the casual player overlooks! I've been hired by the Official "Video Game Awesomeness Committee" to bring you the best in Xbox Video Games...ok that's a lie, but I play a lot of them! Let's delve deep into the vast library of Xbox Video Games and snatch up all the great ones! Please be advised that the sheer awesomeness of some of these games has been known to cause addiction and the shouting of various action game quotes at one's girlfriend and/or spouse. Let's continue!

Five: Dead Rising

Dead Rising is just another zombie game where you can flay your opponent with lawnmowers...wait...back up. Yes I said lawnmowers. The game takes place inside a mall, where you must defend yourself with whatever means possible. In order to do so, you have to pick up the various objects that surround you and use them to bash zombies from here into oblivion. Dead Rising succeeds because it's NOT just another zombie game. Tradition zombie games use guns. Dead Rising uses bowling pins, guitars, lawnmowers, pipes and more! Every time you kill a zombie in Dead Rising, you're going to cringe, but in the good way!

Four: Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars

Real Time Stragey games haven't graced the console platform many times, and for good reason. Developers somehow fail to get the control scheme and usability down. Previous RTS console games ended up having much of same qualites as Michael Jackson's nose - it just didn't look right. I'm proud to say though, that the devs completely nailed Command & Conquer 3 in every aspect of the game. You've got tons of campaigns to rip through, lots of different troops, and the game feels very natural within the realm of previous PC Command & Conquer games. Other real time strategy Xbox video games have rarely felt this good, and that's something to be proud of...like when I ate an entire bag of cheese curls and didn't get sick.

Three: The Elder Scrolls Oblivion

Playing this game feels like getting lost in the park without your mommy...but in a good way. This game is so massive that it would take you a few months of solid playing to explore everything within it. That alone makes the game worth the buy at 50 bucks. Also, and I don't mean this lightly, this is one of the finest video games every crafted by the hands of man. Every single non player character has an audible voice actor. Every single dungeon has it's own theme and different monsters. Every single piece of equipment looks different from the last one. Every weapon has it's own unique ability. Oblivion is just one of those games that begs to be played for hours and hours...kinda like blackjack...but this time you're not drunk and losing money.

Two: Gears of War

To be honest with you, I don't think anybody expected Gears of War to be this good. I had heard a few things about it before it's release and I thought it would be worth checking out...and it ended up being a masterpiece. The graphics look wonderful, the storyline is wrought with deep emotion and loss, and you're genuinely sucked into this wretched world. It's a rough journey through Gears of War, and the devs did a great job in making you feel the emotion and loss of your fellow comrades with this one...oh also...you have a chainsaw on the end of your gun. That's a deal sealer right there. Chainsaw + Gun = Awesome.

One: The Halo Franchise

It doesn't matter which one you play. Halo took the market by storm with it's release. One of the really interesting things about the Halo games is that they have cross genre appeal. I for one don't like first person shooters, but I play Halo. Know why? Because everything the Bungie implemented works great and feels even better. Halo should be (and probably is) a benchmark for the first person shooter gaming community. This is without a doubt, the greatest name out of all of the Xbox video games out there.
