The Betty Crocker Cookbook Free Android App Review

Amy Brantley
As many of you know, I love to cook and bake. I also love trying out new apps for my Droid 2, especially when those apps are free. While searching for a new recipe app, I stumbled across The Betty Crocker Cookbook App. I've always been a fan of Betty Crocker products and love their website so I decided to give the app a try. After all, it was free, so what did I have to lose?

I've mentioned before that my cookbook and recipe collection are massive, but if I were given the chance to carry some of my greatest cookbooks around with me at all times, I would be thrilled. Well, guess what. That's pretty much what The Betty Crocker Cookbook App allows you to do. Imagine writing out your menu for the week and wanting to make meals with what you had on hand. You can easily pull up the app and not only enter in the ingredients, but choose the type of recipe you're looking for, such as appetizers or breakfast. As if that weren't enough, you can also browse Betty Crocker's extensive recipe collection through just about any category imaginable. If you're looking for a specific recipe, you can also search for the recipe title, such as pineapple upside down cake.

I love the fact that the recipes include the nutritional information and that you can quickly add them to your favorites to pull up later or even email them to yourself or friends. What I don't like about this app is that it doesn't have an easy way to create a shopping list. It would be nice to click the items you need and add them to a list inside the app. With that being said, I still think this is a worthy app of adding to your Android. Betty Crocker is well known for having recipes that any cook will enjoy and it's free.

I would have to give this app 4 out of 5 stars. I love that I can access Betty Crocker's recipes from anywhere and that if I'm shopping and find a deal on something I can pull up recipes simply by entering the name of the ingredient. However, the app falls short by not offering a shopping list feature. Still, it's a great app and I highly recommend it.
