Originally named the Blind Monk after a misconception that the famous monk and champagne maker Dom Perignon was blind, the Bexley Monk has provided an upscale dining experience to residents of Columbus, Ohio for almost 20 years. The Bexley Monk is located at 2232 East Main Street in Bexley, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. It's easily accessible from I-70 off the Main Street/Bexley exit.

What I particularly enjoy about the Bexley Monk is that it provides a versatile dining experience to fit your mood. If you want to enjoy a more casual dining experience, you can sit on the pub side of the Bexley Monk and enjoy their regular live entertainment. However, if you're in the mood for a more formal setting, the restaurant side presents a much more upscale atmosphere. This is one of the features that make it a favorite Columbus, Ohio restaurant.

The menu is also very diverse featuring salads, steaks and seafood, wood fired pizzas and a decent selection of sandwiches. Among all the restaurants in Columbus, Ohio I think the Bexley Monk's wood fired pizzas are the best. I've particularly enjoy their Margherita pizza with fresh basil, mozzarella and a tomato sauce. Their Christopher Inn Salad is also especially good. This salad features spinach with mandarin oranges, strawberries and a slightly sweet poppy seed dressing. The addition of a piece of grilled salmon made this a satisfying meal by itself. The Bexley Monk is especially known among Columbus restaurants for its pan-seared scallops with a delicious maple glaze.

No restaurant experience is really complete without dessert and the Bexley Monk certainly doesn't disappoint there either. They offer a diverse dessert menu including staples such as crème brulee and New York style cheesecake. There's also some less usual items such as pochettes, a vanilla mascarpone turnover with a Grand Marnier berry sauce. I've personally sampled all of their desserts and they are excellent. My favorites are the crème brulee and the pochettes. I didn't care for their chocolate dessert as I found it too rich for my tastes but serious chocolate lovers will rave about it.

The Bexley Monk also has a full bar and one of the best wine selections in Columbus, Ohio. On the 2nd Monday of every month they host a special wine dinner which features 4 courses and 4 wines for $50 per guest. This makes for an excellent opportunity to sample some different wines and enjoy a great meal. Reservations are recommended for the wine dinner.

The Bexley Monk also features a private banquet room capable of seating 65 guests. This makes them a choice restaurant in Columbus, Ohio for holding events like small wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners and more.

The success of the Bexley Monk as one of the finer restaurants in Columbus, Ohio is largely due to the skill of its executive chef, Charles Langstaff. Chef Langstaff has 37 years experience in the Columubus area.

The Bexley Monk features a lunch and a dinner menu. Prices on the lunch menu range from about $8 to $20. The dinner menu typical includes entrees ranging from $8 to $30 for their filet mignon. Their lunch hours are Monday through Friday from 11:30 am to 2:30pm. There is no lunch on Saturdays. They serve dinner from 5:30pm to 10:00pm Monday through Thursday and until 11:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Reservations can be made by calling the restaurant at (614) 239 - MONK or online at http://www.bexleymonk.com. If you're looking for an excellent restaurant in Columbus, Ohio, give the Bexley Monk a try. I think it'll fast become one of your favorite restaurants like it has mine.
