I choose to visit the story of the "great flood" first since this is the one that had peaked my initial curiosity. After visiting the story over and over all evidence points to the idea that the "great flood", if it happened, was done in vain. Pulling from the bible, Genesis 6:5-7 states, "The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. 6 The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. 7 So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth-men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air-for I am grieved that I have made them." Let's analyze that passage. The bible has taught generations that "god" is all knowing; he knows what was before, what is and what is to come. So it would be safe to assume or say that prior to "god" creating mankind, the animals, and the birds in the air, that "god" knew how his creation would turn out. With that said, why did "god" create them if he had prior knowledge to the outcome?
When asked that question scholars counter with, "god" gave mankind free will to make choices weather right or wrong. Ok that may be arguable but if, in fact, "god" did give mankind free will he would also have known what man would do with that will. In addition, if in fact "god" knew what man would do he would have also known exactly which day he would flood the earth, making "gods" creation and destruction premeditated. So one can say that the "great flood" was done in vain because "god" knew how wicked mankind would one day become? But there is more. Genies 6:17-19 also states, "For my part, I am going to bring a flood of waters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die. 18But I will establish my covenant with you; and you shall come into the ark, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons' wives with you. Genesis 9:18-19, "The sons of Noah who went out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham was the father of Canaan. 19These three were the sons of Noah; and from these the whole earth was peopled."
If the above passages were just taken as is then they could pass as believable but if you cross reference passages in the bible then the above passages would not hold up.
For instance, the bible states that all men are born into sin because the sin carries down the line of the father. So with that said, yes "god" saw Noah, as righteous in the current generation but Noah's father was a sinner. So passing the sin to Noah who in turn passed the sin to his three sons who peopled the earth. What was the outcome? We have a sinful world today so; the entire "destruction" was done, if it actually took place, in vain.
If we applied the same ideology to the so-called destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah one would discover that "destruction" to be also done in vain. Prior to doing research we thought the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah were the act of homosexuality or anyone who was engaging in anal sex and bestiality. But that is not entirely true. The sins of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah were extended to; rape, inhospitality, hatred of strangers and making slaves of guests. If we examine the passages correctly we will find the exact reason that Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed, if it was.
The bible states, in Genesis 18:22-26 that," ""Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great and their sin is very grave, 21 I will go down to see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry that has come to me. And if not, I will know. Then Abraham drew near and said, "Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked? 24Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city. Will you then sweep away the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous who are in it? Abraham attempts to negotiate with God and in turn, God drops his original number of 50 righteous people to a mere 5.
There is nothing in Genesis suggesting the people of Sodom and Gomorrah was guilty of homosexuality.
If we use the knowledge above where we stated that "god" is all knowing, then Abraham would not have been able to convince "god" to drop from his original number of 50 righteous people down to ten because "god" would have already know that there were not 50 or ten righteous people in Sodom and Gomorrah. There mere fact that "god" negotiated a number with Abraham challenges the myth that "god" is all knowing. In addition, "god" did the same thing he did in the Noah story, he chose a person that was righteous to be saved along with his family. The difference between these two stories were that Lot and his family were ordered to leave the city prior to its destruction, not to re-people the city.
Lastly, in Genesis 19: 1-8 it states, But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house. 5And they called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them." 6Lot went out to the men at the entrance, shut the door after him, 7and said, "I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly. 8 Behold, I have two daughters who have not known any man. Let me bring them out to you, and do to them as you please. Only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof." According to the passages "god" chose to save Lot and his family because Lot was righteous, yet, he offered up his virgin daughters to an angry mob of men.
Reading the passages we can see where people may say the destruction was based around homosexuality. The angry mob wanted to know the men whom Lot was hiding but instead Lot offered the angry mob to know is two virgin daughters instead. In biblical times, the term to know someone is to engage in sex. Since the angels were men it would imply that the mob wanted to engage in anal sex or homosexuality with the angels. But the teachings of the church through these passages are false. The true crime of Sodom and Gomorrah was inhospitality and the rudeness the people of the city acted upon the poor and of strangers.
The angel's presence in the city without being announced to the people in the city broke the law that was upheld during that time. The mob surrounded Lots house in an attempt to interrogate the men, to know the men, to ensure they were not spies. Lot was not a dumb man, he offered he virgin daughters to be raped by the angry mob in attempts to cause a diversion or divert the angry mob, or to offer heterosexuality as a sign of hospitality. Since the angels were seeking shelter in Lots house, Lot was compelled to protect his visitor. That means sacrificing your life, family or property. Ezekiel 16:48-50 states the original sins of Sodom were pride, plenty, laziness and worshipping idols. Those sins were the abomination, not homosexuality. So the teaching and interpretations of the bible are wrong.
With that said, further cross referencing in the bible tells us that in Genesis 19:33-36, tells us that Lot's two virgin daughters got their "righteous" father intoxicated and committed incest, they were even impregnated. So why would "god" who was dissatisfied with the "homosexuality" of the two cities, destroy them but save a family who engaged in incest? Therefore the destruction of the two cities were done in vain, if the destructions even took place.
It would make no logical sense for "god" to destroy the earth because man was so wicked if he made man in his image. It would also make no logical sense for "god" not to know the actions of man prior to creating them since the bible says "god" is all knowing. Furthermore, it would make no sense for "god" so save Noah and his family in order to repopulate if the bible says all men are born in sin. Noah would have simply recreated the same sin "god" destroyed the earth for committing, which is why our world is more wicked today than it was then. In addition, despite the origin of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, weather it be homosexuality or inhospitality the cities were still destroyed, but what did it solve? If the cities were in fact guilty of homosexuality, we still have it today. Homosexuality is alive and growing. So if "god" destroyed the cities it was in vain because that must mean in other regions or cities homosexuality or inhospitality was being practiced. So why did "god" put his focus on just these two cities?
But what did both destructions solve? Is the world more wicked or less wicked? It is more wicked. Are individuals still participating in homosexuality or inhospitality? Yes they are, so what did the destructions solve? Nothing, they were done in vain and only displayed mass murder and the wrath of a self proclaimed loving "god". If the destructions even took place. So how about we take this a step further. If "god" all knows, all-powerful as the bible claims, then why did "god" not snap his fingers and change the things he did not like? Or, why did "god" not prevent all these sinful occurrences prior to creating man? The reason being, it would contradict every thing the bible says about "god" and his abilities. If "god" had changed the actions of the people it would be as if "god" is admitting he made a mistake when he created man, and the bible says "god" is without sin.
We can argue that "god" gave man free will so with that "god" knew what man was going to do. If that is true, then why would "god" want to destroy a creation for doing what he gave them the ability to do or for doing what he knew his creation would do? That must mean that prior to "god" making man, he planned their destruction, making every action there after premeditated. Challenging the fact that man does not have free will to begin with. If, any of this is true.

Post a CommentGreat job Brother Karsten, but the Bible does say not everyone will believe. (another truth about the Bible) Some will just not be convinced till Jesus returns and they are left behind. Maybe then they will believe.
For all of you who think that the Bible is a lie, very soon you will see Matthew 24 taking place. Things are even happening now in that chapter. Earthquakes, wars, pestilences, etc. Jesus is coming very soon and all you who do not believe will be left behind to face the terrible Tribulation. Read the book of Revelation. I don't know how anyone can say it's a lie. Everything that it has predicted, is coming to pass. Read Spring's article.

Thank you Patricia!
Well-written and well-thought out. I'm glad I found your article.
Scooter, great point!
I keep hearing religious people say basically that we would start going absolutely berserk if it weren't for the morality of God. If you believe that you are mentally ill. it's an absolute fact that currently the most none believing societies have the lowest murder, rape, and unwanted pregnancies rates anywhere on the planet. It shows how simple minded and weak most religious peolpe are.
