Most people realize that there strength comes from God but there are those that don't believe in God or choose to believe in a God of their own choosing. In the Bible there was only one religion and that was catholicism and now today there are so many different religions that people are confused as to what or where to practice there faith. I too have had those same concerns as well as my husband, we wonder why every church has there own beliefs, there own way of nit picking through the Bible and taking what they believe to be true.
My own church chooses to take scriptures to hold true from 1 Corinthians 14:34 that women shall not speak in church. Otherwise women shall not preach in church. When I found out about this, it infuriated me to think that some men just don't get it and that its a prejudice way to believe. My own bishop said at a conference that he got up and walked out because a woman was about to preach.
I don't believe God was a prejudiced person, I believe that the Bible has been written over and over so many times that now no one really knows what God wrote. God didn't write Corinthians Paul did. There are other things Paul wrote such as a person should not marry so that he can devote his time to God but if he does marry let him stay married. Those were his words not Gods.
If you go to church you notice that most people dress up to go to church but in the Bible it says not to dress up or wear makeup, but no one listens to that. They nitpick their way through the bible for their beliefs. This year has been a tragic one for the families and soldiers of Fort Hood because of someones beliefs. It is sad when people take something so beautiful and make it ugly by turning what God said into a tragedy.
There are so many kids today who don't believe in God just simply because they were never taken to church. They miss out on the family feeling you get when you are in church and the peace and comfort you get when you go. God said for every two that believe there will be three that don't in a family. And even with my own family that is so true.
There are so many churches out there that preach that the end of time is near yet in the Bible, God states that no one will know, not the hour or the day or the minute of when it will come. So how do these churches think they know this? My own church preaches this not only in church but in bible study, yet they too believe that time is near because of all the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
I believe families need to encourage their children to go to church by going themselves and maybe the youth of today will be more respectful. I watch the children in our church and they are so loving, their parents are involved in everything they do. Our church has strong family ties and recently we had a church member pass away unexpectantly. the whole church was there to say prayers for this family all thru the week.
For years my husband and I didn't go to church because of something that happened in both our childhoods. For me the preacher belittled a single mom who couldn't come to her sons baptism. It was uncalled for and I left the church and didn't go back until this year. It wasn't Gods fault so I continued to praise God at home. Still today churches are still doing this, judging people which in the Bible its says your not suppose to lest you be judged by God. When is the nitpicking going to stop and the families of God come together and unite and praise God in one religion? I know it seems as if I am rambling on but these are the thoughts I think about everyday. As Christmas nears lets say prayers for our young men that are in Afghanistan and Iraq and pray that they make it home safely. My daughters own boyfriend and friend are also in Afghanistan and I pray they come back home safely not only to their families but my daughter. Have you told God thank you today for the snow we are receiving today or the wonderful meal you had on Thanksgiving or for your children for they are Gods greatest gift?

Post a CommentSounds like a great place...I hope to find one like it someday. I wrestle with the idea that there even is a God. So in my mind, why not praise your God in your everyday life and join a club to get that brother/sister bond with people. I would have a hard time going to a church that doesn't alow a women to get up and speak!
Then why go to church at all if the bible is so outdated?
If you have a problem with what your church teaches why are you going there?
I agree wholeheartedly. It's very sad that some churches preach scriptures that doesn't apply to what God's word says. I have been spreading awareness about some children in Esit Eket, Nigeria. They are being labeled as witches and wizards by some pastors because of a verse in the bible that says "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." The pastors are using the verse to their advantage by charging for exorcisms or as they call them deliverance's. The children are being abused, tortured, abandoned and even killed because of this. My article Prophets Are Profiting from Child Abuse explains it in more detail.
Thank you Kim for sharing your thoughts. My thoughts and prayers are with the soldiers and their families. I hope that they are able to come home for the Holidays.
