The biceps on the other hand are hardly ever used in everyday life. To understand how little the biceps are used, allow me to explain what movements the biceps are responsible for. The biceps are responsible for two main movements, Flexion of the forearms and supination of the wrists. Flexion is defined by Encarta Dictionary as "Bending of a Limb." Supination is the turning of the hand joint. To sum it up, all the bicep is responsible for is bringing the arm up in a curling motion and turning the wrist. How often in your everyday life, outside of the gym, do you really curl anything? You may turn your wrist quite often but do your wrist turning activities really require huge amounts of force to justify gigantic biceps? I'm guessing not.
After reading this, men will still want big biceps because that's what the ladies like. In fact, I can envision many guys feeling exposed after reading this. Imagine being a guy who mainly focuses on his biceps for the look of it. Your arms are big, you feel tough and intimidating, then come to find out those muscles you have are very close to worthless. Will people still be afraid of you knowing all you can do is curl those muscles? I'm sure I've just ruined the world for a couple people with this information, but it's better to find out the truth sooner than later so you can change your ways and build some muscles that actually do something. For those of you who are into the health and wellness benefits of working out, especially the functional training enthusiasts, I'm sure you enjoyed reading this.
