The biggest drawback of solar panels is the obvious one, the sun itself. Solar panels depend on the sun in order to produce electricity which means that when the sun is not around you are not getting power. This is especially troublesome if you live in an environment that does not receive regular sun or if you want to produce enough electricity to run everything in your house on it all of the time. If a storm were to come and you were without sun for a few days could you really survive without any electricity? Even if you could how comfortable would that be?
Fortunately there are some options for avoiding the biggest drawback of solar panels, lack of sun. Do not be discouraged by this factor, many people have had to tackle it in the past and their ingenuity has provided a wide array of solutions to make sure you have electricity even when the sun is not around to power your solar panels.
The first method is pretty simple, if you get sun most of the time, just use standard electricity sometimes. You can have them interconnected so you do not even need to go without power for a second or have to switch it over.
Another option is to purchase more batteries and save up on sunny days for rainy ones. You see, solar panels do not provide straight electricity, it is converted and stored in batteries, and these are what power your home. Simply purchase more batteries and you have more stored electricity, even when the sun is not around.
Some people even go a step further and install a wind turbine with their solar panels. Chances are you will either get wind or sun on any given day. Buy a few extra batteries and run on both. This will ensure that you will never have to deal with a shortage of electricity due to a lack of sunshine.
Hopefully now you have learned about the biggest drawback to solar panels and how it can actually be quite easily avoided altogether.
