The Biggest Loser 9 Finale

The Biggest Loser Season 9 had come down to three people: Daris, Ashley, and Micheal. The coalition of three friends had brought them to the finale all together. Of course, Micheal was the winner, losing more than fifty percent of his total weight, but there were many victories throughout the night that were highlighted.

The first victory that was celebrated was the winner of America's vote to determine who made it to the Final Three. The choices were down to the baby-faced red haired Daris and former football coach and determined contestant Koli. Many people were feeling that Koli was the better choice as he had the better chance of winning. But, Daris' plea at the end of the previous episode, admitting to the fact that he needed to overcome his stress eating, pulled at America's heart strings, gaining him the last spot in the top three.

The second victory that night was of the favorite 'Momma' Sherry. She remained in the running throughout most of the night for the one hundred thousand dollar purse. A short woman who weighed well over two hundred pounds, Sherry had lost 99 pounds, bringing her down to 119 pounds. This amazed me that she weighed that much as she looked like a twig when she came out on the stage. Unfortunately, she did not happen to win the $100,000.

That distinction came down to Koli. Although he did not win America's heart in the vote for the final three, he put a large amount of heart and determination during the time off to lose almost two hundred pounds. The heart of Koli and the love that he gets from his family for support have been a large part of the back story for the show this year. Since he did not make it to the final three, it was only fitting for him to win the working out from home award.

Of course, the most heart moving victory was that of Micheal winning the title of Biggest Loser this year. The heaviest contestant has left his past behind him and shed over fifty percent of his body weight in eight months. The man had a big heart and a large amount of desire and will power. This drive went ahead and led him on through to the finish line. His outlook on life and his demeanor was an inspiration to everyone on the ranch. Of course, I think that we may see him and Ashley together later on in the year. After all, walking 26.2 miles with someone allows the two people get to know each other a lot better. The white rose Micheal brought with him could have been for Ashley, but it was equally touching that he brought it for his mother.

The Biggest Loser is always a moving and heartwarming show, and this season was no exception. Every contestant had a moving story and was very likable this year (except for the red team), and although I wished that they all could make it to the finish line, Micheal truly deserved the title this year.
