There was nothing like watching the season six finale of reality sitcom The Biggest Loser: Couples on Tuesday, December 16 on NBC at 8/7 pm central. Anyone would have gasped at how phenomenal all the contestants appeared after enduring three months of vigorous exercising and strict eating habits on The Biggest Loser's ranch. This popular program that premiered on October 19, 2004 is orchestrated by two fitness trainers, Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper, and hosted by Allison Sweeney. The Biggest Loser involves collaboration with top nutritional experts and weekly weigh-ins. This series featured eight teams of family couples including parents and children and husband and wives. The grand prize winner of $250,000, Michelle Aguilar, was announced on Tuesday's finale. This resident of Dallas, TX who trained with Jillian lost an amazing 110 lbs. The Biggest Loser was both a challenging and successful journey for the courageous contests and will begin its new season on January 6, 2009 on NBC. Especially penetrating, enthusiasts of The Biggest Loser who desire to lose a significant amount of weight can get a piece of the action by joining The Biggest Loser Club that offers a personalized fitness program modeled after the diet and fitness plan of the contestants.

One of the most inspiring aspects of The Biggest Loser, is how the contestants reduced their simulated years of old age while simultaneously increasing their lifespan. In particular, season six's 51-year-old contestant, Jerry Skeabeck, arrived as the unhealthiest contestant in the history of The Biggest Loser, weighing 380 lbs (the highest weight of this season) and taking four blood pressure medications. Jerry lost the need of all of his medications in October when he dropped to 298 lbs. He has continued to lose weight after his elimination from the show and was praised on the finale by The Biggest Loser's physician, Dr. Huizenga, for his astounding progress and eradication of all of his ailments. He even participated in a 5k run prior to the finale.

Of most significance, The Biggest Loser provides hope to Americans who are struggling with their weight and health. The episodes and finale are proof that weight-loss goals are attainable as demonstrated by average citizen examples. If you have been motivated by The Biggest Loser and possess the qualities of courage, persistence, and passion, the Biggest Loser is on your side and willing to give you an opportunity to work it out and to shine.
