The Biggest Loser - Melissa

Melissa Morgan, an attorney from Aspermont, Texas, is certainly the biggest loser on the hit show 'The Biggest Loser' - and I'm not referring to weight loss. She certainly knows how to play the game to win - in one way, at least. She and her husband, Lance, are certainly winning a lot of challenges.

The first week, Melissa lost 19 pounds - something to be proud of (Week 1 full episode).

Week 2, she and her husband won immunity (Week 2 full episode). She admitted on the scale that she tried to swing it so that she could lose more the next week. She took advantage of her immunity - but to an extreme. Melissa gained a pound.

Week 3, the contestants had a 'Student/Teacher' challenge (Week 3 full episode). Each team had a student and a teacher, and only the student's weight would count at weigh-in. Lance was the student, so Melissa's weight wouldn't count. Again, at weigh-in, Melissa's results were dismal. She lost one single pound.

The trainers, Jillian and Bob, were furious as she first said, "I just want to eat a cheeseburger," then backpedaled and said that she did everything right and didn't know how she only lost a pound. A screaming match ensued; with Jillian and Bob rightfully calling her out for the liar she is (as Jillian said later, in her 18 years she has never come across a single person that couldn't lose weight following the plan that Melissa claimed to be following - it's impossible). Melissa was offended, saying the trainers assaulted her character and integrity on national television.

Needless to say, week 4 was incredibly tense. Bob confronted Lance and Melissa head on, said what he had to say, and left it alone, promising that was the end of the conversation, period. Jillian, being Jillian, didn't back down or allow herself to let them think they were right. Lance refused to work out with her, and Melissa tearfully tried to convince Jillian that she was really being honest and trying to lose weight (here's the video). Jillian predicted that Melissa would lose this week because of peer pressure from being called out on her dirty tricks. She was right. Melissa lost 11 pounds. Magically, her body could lose weight, even though somehow it couldn't before. She proved Jillian right.

Week 4 was a big revelation for viewers as to Melissa's character as well. In her room with her husband, Melissa tells her husband what he's going to do, then says, "I love when I get what I want." Yes, Melissa, you do - and that statement perfectly describes Melissa. Self-centered, spoiled and always trying to deflect the blame.

At the eliminations, she always said she would vote the way the team asked her to, since that's what she would want in their position. Last night, she did the opposite. She even tried to convince everyone else to vote off Miggy, even though Migdalia had told them to vote her off. The best part was she claimed that Miggy was the one creating drama - completely ironic considering she is the one that creates more drama than anyone else! All the negative energy on the show is from Melissa - Melissa and Miggy, Melissa and Migdalia, Melissa and Jillian, Melissa and Bob. None of these people have a problem with anyone else besides Melissa. She is the one with the drama problem. It came down to the last vote, but Melissa didn't get what she wanted. Miggy stayed.

Her biggest mistake was disrespecting and alienating herself from the trainers. Jillian and Bob are the biggest factor in the contestants' weight loss. Their investment into individual contestants make or break their progress more than anything else. By losing their full support, they will never get Jillian and Bob's much needed extra attention.

The Biggest Loser is a game. But, foremost, it's also a chance that thousands of people want a shot at to get their lives back on track. It's not a joke - it's an opportunity to change your life and lose the weight that can kill you. That's where Melissa has it all wrong. She is wasting what is probably the biggest gift she could have gotten. She could be losing weight (heck, anyone else would be losing weight!), but instead, she's more focused on drama, tactics and manipulating everyone.

Although she states on her Biggest Loser profile that she's wanting to turn everything around to set a good example for her children, it's obvious she was all talk on that, too. In no way is she setting a good example for her kids by her behavior. I cringe thinking of how her children act with this as an example.

Personally, I'm looking forward to Miggy putting Melissa in her place next week. I'm also excited to see how Jillian and Bob treat Melissa, since she's made it clear that she thinks they're idiots.

Great show - and now an even better reason to watch. Fingers crossed Melissa gets booted - I want to see her departure speech blaming everyone but herself.

So glad to see both of them go. Last night was the best. Noticed noone stood to give Melissa a hug. Don't blame them - hiho it was fun to see Melissa go. YEAH. What losers.
