The Biggest Loser Season 10 Episode Recap from September 28, 2010
7 Teams Moved on to the Biggest Loser Ranch in the Second Episode
Second Chances: Bob choose Aaron, the biggest contestant of the season, and Jillian choose Elizabeth, the one who had to go to the hospital in Boston. Ali revealed that the contestants would be playing as individuals and the matching shirts they were given last week meant nothing. Interesting! At least it will help with differentiating the contestants throughout the season. The 16 contestants started the episode with their first abuse session, I mean workout, of the season.
Injuries and Revelations: Tina was the first minor injury of the season as she fell off the treadmill, but she managed to get right back up. Rick was next as he almost passed out and had to sit on the floor for a long time to regain himself. With Elizabeth losing her breath, the contestants were really seeing just how unhealthy they had become. Dr. Huizenga was their next visit so they could look at their health from the inside. They may think they are just a little heavy, but there are a lot of other things going on besides the weight. Lisa, 31, was told her real age was 62 due to her weight but also because she smokes. Aaron was told he is 51% fat and it was revealed that he had diabetes. As other contestants found out their fate, the Doctor had them talk to their families for motivation.
Moving on to diet talks, Bob and Jillian questioned the contestants about their eating habits BEFORE the biggest loser. One mentioned a sandwich he used to eat called "The Terminator" while another explained "The Gravedigger" he used to get. Bob and Jillian hoped to teach the contestants that it's not just exercise that matters, a healthy diet is important as well.
After another intense workout, Brendon, Aaron and Mark received a special delivery - packages which contained the unhealthy food they discussed earlier. It all looked DISGUSTING to me as well as Jillian and Bob!! Blah!! But the guys were definitely addicted to this food before, could they learn to stay away from it now?
The First Weigh In: Mixing it up this season, Ali announced the first weigh in but this one would be different than any of the past seasons as HALF of the contestants would fall below the yellow line, meaning that 8 players would be in danger of elimination. After the weigh in (stats below) the following fell below the yellow line: Allie, Burgandy, Elizabeth, Jessica, Lisa, Patrick, Sophia and Tina. Ada was the only woman that wasn't in danger this week and Patrick was the only guy that fell below.
It's not over yet! Rick had the highest percent of weight loss and was given the opportunity to save one player. The 7 remaining players would compete in a challenge for a chance to save themselves. After talking to each of the 8 players, Rick decided to save Patrick - looks like it's a boys club! The seven ladies were in a race off, repeating a race to the flag with the first player being safe each race and the remaining racing again. The winners were: Sophia, Elizabeth, Burgandy, Lisa and Jessica. This left Allie and Tina below the yellow line with the 8 players who were above the yellow line voting to send one of them home.
The vote: Tina, the oldest contestant, was up against Allie, the youngest. She was almost ready to sacrifice herself because of her motherly instinct, but in the end she did argue FOR herself begging for them to keep her. Allie's argument was that she didn't think she could do this at home. This early in the game, there are no real bonds formed yet so it's really a 50/50 chance who will stay. With 5 votes Allie was sent home. The contestants seemed to think that Tina wanted it more and also that Tina needed it more since she was older.
Allie's Update: In her short time on the ranch, Allie learned that she could do things she didn't know she had in her. In her update she revealed she had lost 60 pounds and had worked on her habits at home. Her mother and immediate family didn't seem to "get it" so she relied on people like Danny from Season 8 to motivate her. Allie showed a big improvement in her attitude and her health! Good job!!
