'The Biggest Loser': Season 9 Finale on May 25 2010 Crowns a Winner in This Record Breaking Season

Will it Be Michael, Ashley, Koli or Daris Taking Home the Win in the May 25th, 2010 Season Finale?

Suzanne Rose
Four months ago, The Biggest Loser Season 9 kicked off it's biggest season yet. On the January 5, 2010 Premiere Episode, 11 pairs arrived at the ranch to start on their weight loss journey. Now after four months of rigorous training and strict dieting, four contestants remain.

Two of these contestants are definitely in the final weigh in and competing for the $250 thousand dollar prize LIVE tonight. They are: Michael - weighing in at 526 pounds, 30-year old Michael is the biggest contestant ever to appear on The Biggest Loser. Last week on the ranch he weighed in at 299 pounds. Ashley - this 27 year old started out at 374 pounds. Now weighing in at 213 pounds, she still has a little bit to lose and could easily take the prize.

After falling below the yellow line last week, these two contestants will find out tonight which of them gets to compete for the grand prize based on audience votes. Koli - this 28 year old started out at 403 pounds. Last week he weighed in at 213 pounds, but it wasn't enough to guarantee his safety. Daris - starting out at 346 pounds, this 25 year old was very emotional. However he dropped the ball last week, gaining 2 pounds bringing his final weight to 197 pounds.

The Audience Vote
Daris returned to show off his new self as well as to introduce us to a new girlfriend he's got since the show. Koli came out and said he wasn't cocky, he was confident. Who did the audience like better? Daris won America's vote! Even though Daris gained weight in the final week, many viewers did think Koli was cocky as comments on the Biggest Loser Facebook page demonstrate.

Subway offered Shay, from Biggest Loser Season 8, $1000 for every pound she could lose since the last Biggest Loser Finale. Shay returned looking thin, healthy and happy to see how much money she earned. Shay dropped from 304 lbs to 252 lbs! That 52 pound weight loss earned her $52,000 dollars, however Subway decided to challenge her again! If Shay completes a marathon by the end of this year, Subway will double the check and give her $104,000. I think it's worth a try!

The At Home Prize
Everyone besides Michael, Ashley and Daris was still eligible for the at home prize. How did they weigh in? Here are their stats!

Cherita - Starting weight: 277, Final weight: 186, Lost 91 lbs, Weight loss percent: 32.85%
Victoria - Starting weight: 358, Final weight: 222, Lost 136 lbs, Weight loss percent: 37.99%
Sherry - Starting weight: 218, Final weight: 119, Lost 99 lbs, Weight loss percent: 45.41%
Maria - Starting weight: 281, Final weight: 167, Lost 114 lbs, Weight loss percent: 40.57%
Patti - Starting weight: 243, Final weight: 170, Lost 73 lbs, Weight loss percent: 30.04%

Lance - Starting weight: 365, Final weight: 237, Lost 128 lbs, Weight loss percent: 35.07%
Migdalia - Starting weight: 265, Final weight: 213, Lost 52 lbs, Weight loss percent: 19.62%
Miggy - Starting weight: 240, Final weight: 149, Lost 91 lbs, Weight loss percent: 37.92%
O'Neil - Starting weight: 389, Final weight: 230, Lost 159 lbs, Weight loss percent: 40.87%
Sunshine - Starting weight: 275, Final weight: 161, Lost 114 lbs, Weight loss percent: 41.45%
Darrell - Starting weight: 413, Final weight: 224, Lost 189 lbs, Weight loss percent: 45.76%
Andrea - Starting weight: 298, Final weight: 214, Lost 84 lbs, Weight loss percent: 28.19%
Cheryl - Starting weight: 227, Final weight: 151, Lost 76 lbs, Weight loss percent: 33.48%
Sam - Starting weight: 372, Final weight: 230, Lost 142 lbs, Weight loss percent: 38.17%
Koli - Starting weight: 403, Final weight: 188, Lost 215 lbs, Weight loss percent: 53.35%

If you were paying attention to the numbers, you'll see that Sherry was in the lead for awhile until Darrell stole it from her by just a small percent. However, in the end Koli stole it away with his 188 pound weight loss and took home the $100,000 at home prize.

The Final Weigh In
Daris - Starting weight: 346, Final weight: 178, Lost 168 lbs, Weight loss percent: 48.55%
Ashley - Starting weight: 374, Final weight: 191, Lost 183 lbs, Weight loss percent: 48.93%
Michael - Starting weight: 526, Final weight: 262, Lost 264 lbs, Weight loss percent: 50.19%

Michael was the biggest threat since day one since he just had so many pounds to lose. Ashley had the lead after the first two weighed in, but the question was could Michael beat her? As it turns out, Michael blew the competition away and lost more than half his body weight! Had Koli been in the finale, he would have won the grand prize. However many, including me, think Michael deserved this win more than anyone else!

In other news....

I love this show, so sad to see the season over. I heard there's going to be a hiatus til the next season though, bummer!

Well at least one of the ladies lost all the weight at home b/c she was kicked the first episode due to a twist. I think many of them just need the trainers to teach them that it is possible and then they get motivated. Anyone could do that at home as well since I even know a couple of trainers that are willing to do sessions to get people on track. Trouble is, no one wants to spend any $$ for their health.

Those are some big losses! Good for them, but it's sad they can only be motivated to do it this way.
