The Bill & Hillary Dance
Will Old Music Be allowed To Be Replayed?

The once soft sounds of the political drums that signal the oncoming search for a new President of the United States had begun drifting in from distant places this summer. Candidates for this high office began appearing on the horizons and the political process recognized as the caucus and the primary that take place before the national election takes place in November has begun in earnest. The caucus in Iowa along with the primaries in the diverse and unique states of New Hampshire, Michigan, Wyoming, Nevada and South Carolina are over. The citizens of each state, each aspiring to attain unique goals more suitable to local needs have been assaulted by candidates with a political rhetoric, hyperbole, propaganda, and with exceptions simple out right lies uniquely designed to capture the hearts, minds, and imagination of the voter in each of these states. The games are continuing with an awareness that only two candidates will prevail. For the democrats, it is now on to South Carolina; for the Republicans it is on to Florida.

The candidates will continue with the knowledge that in the past only the individual with the sharpest knife, the greater ability to find firm enough footing on the slipperiest ground and, in many instances, the obscene audacity to challenge the more basic tenets of proper behavior will be left standing at the finish line. Sure as hell, in past political posturing, fair is not a part of the vocabulary; only fear and greed are understood in this "blood sport". No one is foolish enough to bring a knife to a shoot out. That is the way it has been; Johnny McCain, Barack Obama and others can attest to this reality.

But, change is in the air. Johnny McCain, from Arizona has earned the title of Maverick by fighting the good fight for change for years, but it is the tall, intelligent, and soft spoken black senator from the great state of Illinois that has been the one to suggest the possibility in more clear and eloquent terms. For perhaps the first time, voters have sensed the increasing possibility of change on the streets and seen evidence of its existence resonating on the family TV, the news papers and on the streets. Like a great stallion that once again has the bit between its teeth and firm ground beneath its hoofs, the American voter is reclaiming control over the freedoms once lost by default. Behavior characterized by dignity, poise and character are now insisted on and in many cases now demanded in aspiring politicians. In the final analysis those who are incapable of change are doomed. Those who have managed to survive in political office by subterfuge, lies and dishonesty would do well to seek out professional counseling or move on to a more appropriate address.

For one politician who does not inhale when smoking and denies the definition of sex when irrefutable evidence to the contrary is available, there is little hope for the ability to adapt to change. Patterns of behavior that are buttressed by fear, greed, ambition and the worst kind of pride are not easily surrendered. If the past histories of those who engage in the pursuit of personal goals and a private logic are accurate, the fall from grace and all that goes with it will be total.
