The Biography of Barack Obama

Barack Obama was born in Honolulu Hawaii on August 4, 1961. His father was an economist from Kenya and his mother was from Kansas. They both were attending the University of Hawaii when Barack was born. When Barack was only two years old his parents got a divorce. He then moved to Indonesia with his mother where he would stay for four years. Later on he moved to Kansas where he stayed with his grandparents. After graduating from high school he attended Columbia University where he would earn his degree in international relations. Barack moved to Chicago and became very successful. He worked for a law firm in 1989 where he met Michelle Robinson. Obama became very close with Michelle and the couple married in 1992. He quit his job and became a civil rights lawyer and community organizer in Chicago. He could only do so much for the community with a degree in international relations, so he decided to enroll in Harvard Law School. He graduated from Harvard and started to help the community by running a voter registration project in which he would help to register 150,000 new voters. Then Barack started a civil rights practice and worked on certain voting rights cases. He also had a job teaching at the University of Chicago where he explained constitutional laws.

In 1996 Obama was elected state senate as a Democrat. Four years later he ran for United States House of Representatives but failed to win. In 2002 he was reelected to the state senate. Then in 2004 Obama ran for an open seat in the U.S. senate. He announced the keynote address 2004 Democratic National Convention, which raised his popularity. Later that year he won the election by 70% of the vote.

In 2005 Obama helped rebuild the destroyed city of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. He quickly became an advocate for federal funds to and also managed the money. Barack became frustrated with the Bush administration's weak response in terms of support. George Bush and Bill Clinton were guided by Barack to see the destruction and the poverty of the citizens. From then on Bush helped to reconstruct the city of New Orleans.

In January Obama announced that he will be running for President in the year 2008. He has formed an exploratory committee in which will help him run the campaign. On his committee will be David Plouffe, who will manage the campaign and David Axelrod who will work with the media. Barack ranks second in national polls, just under Hillary Clinton. If elected, Obama will be the first African American President in the history of the United States.
