The Birth

A Year of Poems: Day Three Hundred and Forty-Eight

Diane Zoller-Ciatto
I wonder how it must have been
For Mary on that night
Experiencing the pains of labor
No bed to lie - so sad a plight!

I wonder how she felt
As the birth was coming near
No drugs or nurses to help her
On a night so cold and clear!

I wish I could have been there
To wipe her brow and hold her hand
And help her with the Baby
The Little King of All the Land!

Nana, Beautiful thoughts! It is a rebirth for any mother to give birth! Of course, Mary would have been divinely blessed! To think the world would have lost some of the best, who failed to see the light of the day due to lack of proper facilties. But leave that to Him - siva
