On March 10, which was a Tuesday, my husband and I went to Robinsons Place for an early afternoon walk, which had been my usual exercise. But at the mall, I suspected that my bag of water was already leaking when I went to the restroom, and so we passed by the hospital for an assessment.
It was recommended by my OB-gyne that I be admitted that night. I wasn't allowed to go out of the hospital anymore so that I can be observed. It was a wise decision.
The next day, labor was induced because of the leaking bag. My bag of water completely broke around 10 am. And since the contractions were so intense that I passed out every 2 minutes, I was given epidural anesthesia when I reached 6cm. I really didn't know much about what went on, except the excruciating pain because the baby really wanted to come out the natural way.
When evening came, around 9pm, an irregularity in the baby's heartbeat was already detected that my OB-Gyne recommended emergency C-Section. Anyway, after all the pain, our daughter was taken out of my tummy at 9:41pm, March 11, 2009. It took awhile before I finally got to her and before I finally got to my feet because of the pain that I went through. I was ordered to have a bed rest for 24 hours after the operation.
But all is worth it. We have our little bundle and she is such a joy and a blessing.
I believe that even the most painful time that we have gone through, we can still surface winners and we can survive it all. After a week, I almost forgot about the pain already, whereas I did not think that I could get up anytime soon. It has been two weeks now and I have gone back to doing simple routines, like cooking, walking around, and exercising my arms.
I think that most of my recovery can be attributed to God my Healer and to the nursing care that my mother has provided. She has been cooking for me, doing the laundry, alternating in taking care of the baby when my husband and I are eating or are doing other things. So does my father. Then there is the provision from my in-laws. And then there is the love and support of my husband.
All these contributed to my speedy recovery and how quick I am able to enjoy my daughter.
And in all these time, my mantra was: "This too shall pass."
