The Black Canyon Quilt Show in Montrose, Colorado

A Nice Event for All Ages

Sandy James

It's always fun visiting a quilt show and seeing the works of others. Quilting has become an art over the years and you can view this artwork at the Black Canyon Quilt Show in Montrose, Colorado.

The Black Canyon Quilt Show will have door prizes, a raffle quilt, vendors, silent auction, and demonstrations throughout this weekend event. You'll be able to view almost 200 quilts made by local quilters and vote for the People's Choice award. This year's Silent Auction will benefit Samaritan Aviation who help transport injured victims to the hospital in Montrose or Grand Junction by air. The Black Canyon Quilt Show will donate 100% of the Silent Auction proceeds to Samaritan Aviation.

On hand will be many of the quilters themselves as they volunteer to answer questions, sell tickets, and give demonstrations. Some of the quilts may be purchased; just check the tag on each quilt and see if it's for sale.

There's also a Kid's section where you'll find quilts made by local children, and ribbons are awarded in this category.

This is the 16th annual Black Canyon Quilt Show and the theme this year is "Quilts From the Heart".

The quilt show will be held at the Montrose Pavilion off Niagara Street and the times are:

Friday, July 8th: 9 AM -- 5 PM

Saturday, July 9th: 9 AM -- 5 PM

Sunday, July 10th: 10 AM -- 4 PM

Tickets are just $3 for adults and $1 for kids ages 1-12. Raffle tickets are just $1 each and the raffle quilt will be on display at the show.
