The Blizzard on the 10th of December

Steven West
The storm seemed rather innocent at first,
But I knew in my heart it was going to get worse.
The snow began falling soon after three,
By five o'clock it was up to my knee.
And the winds began to howl and sneer,
I knew that I'd be stuck over here.
The blanket of snow piled high on my car,
It continued to fall both near and far.
The total was estimated at seven or eight,
Driving home at night would be an uncertain fate.
Winter warnings were making the rounds,
And now there were other unpleasant sounds
Of cars getting stuck right in the snow
And drivers having no where to go.
It was one of those days I would rather forget,
But I knew that my troubles were not over yet.
It took two hours to plow out the snow,
And by twelve o'clock, I had managed to go.
By three in the morning I returned to my home
Just wanting to rest my poor weary bones.
That was the day that I will always remember,
The hazardous blizzard on the 10th of December.
