The Boat Yard, a Review of the Panama City, Florida Restaurant

Seafood Served Right Next to the Water, as it Should Be

Seafood eaten right next to the water!

I have to admit, it was the lobster that drew me in... Lobzilla, the all things lobster event at the Boat Yard restaurant. Whole lobster, White lobster chili, lobster paella, and lobster cooked in ways I never knew existed until Friday night.

The Boat Yard is situated strangely enough, in a boat yard. You guessed it, right in amongst the boats and docks off Thomas Drive in Panama City, Florida.

The atmosphere was lively, though not overtly so even though there was a wedding party on the upper level while we dined.

Our table was right next to the water, ring side seats to what passing boats were left after darkness settled in. The dock was not a busy one during our dinner and the traffic was minimal.

I had one thing in mind, lobster. A whole lobster was ordered, and a whole lobster was delivered! The plate had an ear of corn, new potatoes, and a fair sized lobster neatly portrayed atop it. The meal was preceded by a large salad with fresh veggies and in house prepared dressing. When was the last time you spotted lobster for $15.99? Well worth every penny!

My seventeen year old son was pried away from the cheeseburgers for one night, and actually tried a B.L.T.! Remember though, the L. stands for lobster (fried), not lettuce this time around. The sandwich was huge! An even match for a hungry teen, though he did win in the end, and finished it all up, it was a close call. He even complimented the taste... may wonders never cease. The B.L.T. came with your choice of side, and of course he picked... fries, we tried.

My wife had fried shrimp with yellow rice. She stated it was the best shrimp she has gotten in a long time. Now that is saying something since we live on the coast with fleets of shrimp boats.

All of our meals were great, no complaints at all. The price was a bit steep at $65.00, but well worth the cost considering the main ingredient. We had non alcoholic beverages by choice, but they are available. The Boat Yard has a full bar and a very nice wine list to compliment any dish.

I highly recommend a trip to the Boat Yard if you plan on visiting the Panama City, Florida area. They do seafood right!
