The Body Shop, Body Butter Collection - a Collection Worth Trying

A Product Review

Sarah Afshar
The Body Shop is a brand that provides you with beauty products that are heavily influenced by nature. For over 30 years, The Body Shop continues to prove why they are an internationally known ethical beauty brand. If you find nature inspired products appealing, more than likely, The Body Shop is the place for you.

When shopping at Sephora, I recently had the opportunity to come across The Body Shop's Body Butter Collection. The Body Butter Collection includes four of The Body Shop's best selling body butters in small/mini sizes. The Body Butter Collection includes four best sellers in Mango, Satsuma, Coconut, and Shea. The Coconut body butter is 1.69 oz. as the Satsuma body butter is 1.7 oz. The Mango and Shea body butters are both 1.75 oz. each. When you purchase these products in the full size (which is about 10 oz. each), they retail for about $20 a piece. I decided to purchase the product and try it for myself.

The Mango Body Butter is a nice scented mango, but possesses undertones that are natural smelling. When you smell your favorite body spray from a brand that doesn't use natural ingredients, you will notice an artificial scent. Unlike the artificial smell you would garner from that body spray, this fantastic addition to The Body Shop smells like an actual mango.

The Satsuma Body Butter has a nice citrus scent. If you can imagine Mandarin Oranges mixed with a light, yet clean scented cream, you will not only learn to love this scent/product, but appreciate it, much more so. The cream is as luxurious as a cream can get. Using real Satsuma as an essential oil definitely defines why this product is terrific.

The Coconut Body Butter is a wonderful, yet tropical coconut smelling product. I love this product because it smells very natural and the product itself is rather long-lasting. Not only does this product smell fabulous, it is incredibly moisturizing and hydrating. The Coconut Body Butter also uses authentic, bona-fide coconut oil. If I had to choose my favorite out of all of the four body butters, without hesitation, I would definitely choose this one.

The Shea Body Butter has a clean scent that is relatively mild. If you are looking for a product that bares limited scent and actually delivers product benefits, you may find the Shea Body Butter to be the most appealing out of the four best selling body butters. Using authentic, yet very natural ingredients from Brazil, Ghana, and Peru, this product is the best solution to dry skin.

PROS

Although the scent is important, the product itself bares more importance. If there is anything I cannot stand, it is a moisturizer that is not only heavy, but sticky and unnatural feeling. The body butters are the opposite. They are light and so natural feeling, they sink into your skin adding an instant hydration that is subtle, yet effective and long-lasting.

Sometimes natural is better, especially in the case of the body butters. If you are an individual that embraces natural ingredients, you will definitely find this product incredibly fascinating. The Body Shop body butters are not only free of sulfates and petrochemicals, the body butters are also free of Phthalates, GMOs, and Triclosans.

Because this product is four, small sized products of The Body Shop's best selling body butter products, it is gift giving friendly. It comes in a small box, with a red ribbon. Whether you want to give it to your mother, your sister, your cousin, your girlfriend, your friend, or yourself, this is a great gift.

CONS

The individual body butter products in this set are relatively small, as they are mini size. This gift is only recommended for those looking to try The Body Shop's best selling body butters. It is also recommended for those that are new to The Body Shop and are looking for variety.

RATING - 93%

You can purchase The Body Shop Body Butter Collection at your local Body Shop retailer or Sephora for $20. Would I use this product again? No. Why? Simply because I have tried the products and although diversity and variety is in my forte, I want to take the next step and purchase an individual, full size body butter that possesses my favorite scent. Would I recommend this product? Yes. Especially to those looking to try The Body Shop's best selling body butters for the first time.
