The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter

Delicious Scent and Moisturizing that Lasts!

Cindy Leggett
Voted "Best Body Product", "Top Body Moisturizer", and "Best Body Lotion" by several well-known magazines, the Body Shop Body Butters are very addictive. Available in a most pleasing array of scents (Pink Grapefruit, Coconut, Satsuma, Shea, Vitamin E, Mango, Brazil Nut, Cocoa Butter, Olive, Strawberry, Hemp, Papaya, Passion Fruit, and Almond) they are a perfect solution to the dry skin that plagues most women.

I recently took stock of the mini-drugstore in my bathroom and decided it might be a good idea to start using some of the mounds of jars and bottles I have collected so that I won't feel so guilty when I buy more. Yes, I have bath-and-body care productitis. It's very hard for me to pass by any store that sells these items without going in and buying at least one thing. I think I inherited this sickness from my mother. You should see the large closet in her bathroom! It's stuffed full, just like mine - and we live in the same house! We both adore trying anything new and different, whether it's soap, lotion, cream, perfume, shampoo... you get the idea. At least this is an obsession that leaves us smelling nice!

I chose the Coconut Body Butter from my collection to try yesterday. I absolutely LOVE the smell of coconut, yet it's hard to find a beauty product with a true coconut scent. Most of the time, it smells sort of fake, or even like sunscreen. Bath and Body Works did a great job in formulating this butter to smell exactly like fresh coconut. Since coconut oil is the second ingredient (water is the first) what wafts out of the jar and into your nose is definitely a natural coconut scent!

The jar is a nice sized one, 6.9 ounces, and its coloration reminds you of coconuts - mainly brown, with a picture of a half coconut on the lid. This body butter actually does have the thick consistency of real whipped butter. It is solidly packed into the jar and is an appealing off-white color. To apply, just swipe your fingers across the top surface and rub into the area of your body that needs moisture. A little bit of this product goes a long way. It seems to just melt into my skin, and does not leave it at all greasy, but soft and supple and just plain nice to touch. There's no need to reapply the butter throughout the day, as one application moisturizes well for at least 24 hours. An added plus is that the coconut scent seems to linger almost as long as a perfume! If I use the butter at night, I can still smell it the next morning, which I love.

Body Shop Body Butter is a treat for both your skin and your nose. A little pricey at $20, it does last for a long time as you don't have to use as much of it as you would a thinner lotion. And if you like the coconut scent as much as I do, you'll be pleased to know that it is also in The Body Shop Bath and Shower Cream, Soap, Body Scrub, and Lip Butter.
