The Body Shop Has a Winner with the Grapeseed Body Butter

Lori Leidig
Always the type who likes to try new things, I picked up a Grapeseed set on my last trip into the local Body Shop. One of the items was this here Body Butter, mainly because it was on sale for a mere 9 bucks, and the companion Shower Gel was 2 for 16 dollars. Score!

Now, I just adore body butters in all flavors. Shea and Cocoa have been my long time favorites, but I knew the minute I opened this one that I would be liking it a great deal. The butter inside matches the soothing light green tub it comes in, and the scent is very light & airy. Refreshing, yet invigorating at the same time. Now, it does smell to me of grapes, but Lars insists that what he smells is watermelon. He likes it... and he hasn't liked any of my girrrly stuff since the Peppermint Foot Rescue stuff last winter (also by the Body Shop, BTW.) He likes this one so much that he has now also taken to using my shower gel in the same scent. grrr. MINE, damn it! Guess I best go stock up, eh?

One difference between this Grapeseed Body Butter and my usual preferred lines is that this one is closer to a thick lotion in consistency, rather than the really super-thick stuff which is what I have come to call butters. It goes on very smooth and feels just wonderfully cooling and hydrating the minute it touches my skin. That heavenly scent stays on the skin for quite awhile too.

The one thing I do not like about this one is that it does leave a bit of a slick residue on top of the skin. That is probably good if you are going to be out in the sun, but I could personally do without that feature in the summer. Winter in Sweden is a whole 'nother critter, though. During our winters I actually consider that coating a plus as it helps to protect my skin.

I mentioned I adored both Shea and Cocoa, remember? Well guess what. Those are two of the key ingredients in this one too, along with the grapeseed oil. Shea butter is the ingredient which handles the re-hydration, Cocoa butter is responsible for the soft & silky feeling, and the grapeseed oil is "very rich in essential fatty acids that help to repair the skin's moisture barrier, thus helping to restore smoothness and suppleness." (bodyshop.com) It is also the Grapeseed oil which is leaving that slightly slick oily feeling, naturally. I can live with that since grapeseed oil is full of antioxidants, which I need badly.

Four very high stars for the Body Shop's Grapeseed Body Butter, and I highly recommend you go grab a big ol' 200ml tub while it's still on sale... it is worth every bit of that 9 bucks.

Body Shop is so unbelievably full of temptation.

Sounds like a winner. I always like the body shop, can sample the product as well as take a whiff before one buys.
