The Book House is a Treasure of Books

A two story Victorian home in Saint Louis, Missouri, sits back from Manchester Road in Rock Hill. If you missed the sign declaring the house as The Book House, the stacks of books on display outside the home would convince you that you found it. The house is filled from roof to the basement with old, rare, used and new books. If you are looking for that out of print book, the odds are you will find it at The Book House. The Book House is located at 9717 Manchester Road, Saint Louis, Missouri, 63119 and is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:30 AM to 7 PM.

Along with the books from the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first century, you also find The Book House's security guard, their friendly cat that roams the store greeting the customers. The store boasts of its huge collection of science fiction, mysteries and other books. In many of my visits, I found some rare and out of print books about King Arthur as well as some first editions of classic science fiction.

The book house has been in business since 1986 and has survived the coming of the super chain stores and attracts book signings by authors and other great events. Proceeds of The Book House support the Second Chapter Life Center. The Second Chapter Life Center is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of for youth and adults with diverse abilities with services like a group home, community activities and much more.
