In a nutshell, grandstanding politicians looking out for their own political futures and careers are putting both our 'lawful' citizens and their lives and property at risk.
In Arizona, at this point probably the most contentious state in the nation with respect to this issue, and also the MAJOR crossing point (since San Diego and El Paso received added fencing and security in the '90s, driving then the funnel to Arizona) this has become a political battle, and 'whose on first' scenario between the Governor, legislature, county sheriff, and city mayors. Other than the Minutemen (branded a 'terrorist' organization by the 'open borders' Bush administration), no one is protecting both the Arizonans, nor the other states which are now experiencing the ramifications of this war and influx of drug dealers, property thieves (jobs included) and violent criminals, in many cases. While the Republicans want the 'cheap labor' for their big business supporters, the Democrats and bleeding hearts speak of 'jobs American's don't want' (the Bush line) and these hardworking individuals. Funny, but unfortunately the 'minuses' far exceed the pluses in this situation, including the risk that not just the drug dealers and criminals are crossing these borders, but also other 'terrorists' from other nations. And unfortunately few Americans have yet to realize, that as Arizona and the other border states go on this issue, so goes the nation.
The most hypocritical aspect of all of this is that the State of Arizona has a remedy, as do other states in this country but will not use it because the 'political' games are more profitable for the 'players' and politicians in this 'whose on first' game. All that is necessary is for the several states, including Arizona, to pass an 'Act' of their own suing the federal government for 'breach of contract' in 'providing for the common defense' in getting those borders sealed pronto, especially after 9/11.
Sheriff Joe, Mayor Gordon, Governor Napolitano and all members of the Arizona legislature, and all those 'politicians' in other states adversely affected by this problem have a solution - I wonder when the politics will stop, and they will actually do something constructive, and necessary, to force the federal government's hands, and also perform their Constitutional duties to their fellow Americans.
Seven years after 9/11 is long enough.....and if the President is more concerned with the borders and security of Israel over his own country, and the three offered candidates at this point also support securing and defending Israel's borders over those in the U.S. - they all, at this point, should be charged with treason as also defined in the 'law of the land,' the U.S. Constitution.

Post a CommentThis is too true. It is even spilling all the way up into Tennessee. Dontcha love how people cry "racism" whenever we say this is a problem? It is a true danger, and those who won't see it are blind. No, I don't hate Mexicans at all. I have some that are great friends, but they're here legally. My grandparents didn't sneak in, and neither should they.
Thanks, Steven. That's not the real problem, after having experienced living with this situation for many, many years. The drug wars are now just getting national news, but they have gone on for literally years. Our broken borders allowed one of those 9/11 pilots to live in Tucson for over a year on his expired agricultural visa, and also two of them to train less than 10 miles from my home. The kids are the targets of the drug cartels, with heroin going for less than $5 a pop. The middle class Mexicans are fleeing into Southern California now, and snapping up all the foreclosed properties. How can you have any War on Drugs or War on Terror with an unfenced and open border (that should have been done after the Mexican-American War). The Senior Bush's New World Order is the agenda, and the blending of Mexico and the U.S. into that North American Union that is the goal here, since we are now 7 years after 9/11, and while we are securing Iraq and Israel's, we are under attack
Great article. This is a very dangerous situation, and must be treated as such. The drug gangs are killing cops with impunity on their side, and it will spill over.
