The Brainwashing of Americans - Whose Fault is it Really?

The Book 1984 Resembles America in 2006 a Little Too Much for My Sanity.

1984 is a book written in the 50's about the decline of man's control over oneself and the rising power of politics and how they will eventually control the human race. Sadly I look around me today at the people working in a society that hardly supports them when they think they do and I think 1984 is already happening. The book depicts a man who is living in world where everything you do, say and even think is being watched and monitored by the "Thought Police" and "Big Brother". Big brother is the political machine behind the constant war which keeps people loyal to it's own region/country and keeps them oppressed so that they will listen to the government who claim to only be doing everything they are doing for the public's safety, so that it will not be oppressed by the opposing leaders.

Now if you've read the book, you know the ending is quite brutal. For those who haven't read the book, the end depicts a society that is so brainwashed and so controlled by the by the government that is only 2% of it's population that they don't even know that their lives could be better than what it is. They don't realize they're oppressed and therefore don't have the will to make any attempt to convert things and rebel.

This society isn't there yet but it's leaning toward it so fast you couldn't stop it with a bullet. When I hear people spout politics without knowing the facts or researching it themselves, it shows me that the government is like a mother, mothering its young who, if without common sense, can be nurtured into believing anything and everything they say. It' already happened to many people.

Republicans, Democrats, Green, Independent - it really wouldn't matter who was in charge. If the government continues to tell the public things that aren't true and we tend to believe it, our society will become the mindless mass of drones that are scattered about with lives full of nothingness like in 1984. If they tell us a war is justified and it's not, we'll be at war. If they tell us that what to eat and what to drink and what to wear, that may sound strange to you, but they're already doing it. And the media is helping.

These messages aren't subliminal, they're blatant. In commercials, in television shows, in department stores. We see advertising, we see people getting shot up by the Taliban. They're only trying to protect us so we must do everything they say. No rebelling like in the 1960's. No rebelling like in the 1920's. No rebelling like in the 1830's. Nor the 1600's nor the 1400's, etc. Today it is almost against the law to rebel. But without rebelling we would have no law of the United States of America in the first place.

If people don't start to think for themselves again, we're going to be in a heap of trouble come time to face the real enemies who are out there. We shouldn't be an enemy to ourselves. We are trying to make the world a better place or so we should. And those who can't think and don't have common sense to recognize and questions the problems within our own government will be the cause of our eventual downfall.
