The Break up

Short Story about Valentine's Day

"I think we shouldn't see each other anymore." Lilly said softly.

'Why?" the Jack answered.

"Because, we are not compatible any longer." She answered. Lilly held her cell phone closer to her ear.

"Why do you say that?" Jack answered, "I love you."

"Well, I don't love you anymore," she answered. "I have found someone else."

"Who is it?" Jack replied. "I can give you everything he can give you." "What do you want?"

"I want nothing from you," Lilly answered. "I am through with you." "Why?" What did I do wrong?"

"Nothing, I've just changed my mind," she answered. "I found someone better."

Lilly clenched the tiny cell phone tighter in her small hand and closed her eyes. She hated to do this, however she had enough.

"You are too heartless", he whined. "It's valentine's day." He breathed into the phone loudly.

"Yes, it is." Lilly answered coldly.

"You know cherub's, and boxes of chocolates," he answered.

"Most couples break up on Valentines day," Lilly answered. "It is a proven fact."

"It still doesn't make it right." Jack answered.

"Right," she answered. "It doesn't." "However, it's still the truth."

"You know what," Jack answered. "I am going to hang up now so you can really think about this more." "I am sure
you will change your mind tomorrow."

"I'm sure, I won't." Lilly answered. "Goodbye."

"Don't say goodbye," Jack answered. "I will talk to you tomorrow and send you a box of chocolates as well."

"Fine," she answered. "I'll just have to send it back." "It is only right."

"Right!" You think what you are doing to me is right?" Jack shot back.

"I think what I am doing is right for the both of us."

"I don't believe you, you know," Jack shouted. "You'll be back." "I know you will be back." "Everyone breaks up but
they always come back together sooner or later."

"Not this time," Lilly answered. "GOODBYE!" Lilly quickly slammed the slider on her Cherry Chocolate Verizon
and threw her phone on the couch.

"Wow," Lilly sighed. " Breaking up with your phone service company is so much harder than I thought."

She placed her hand over her heart and let out a soft moan as she made her way to her bedroom to retire for the evening.

The End.
