The Breakdown of Society: Animalistic Behavior Behind the Wal-Mart Murder

The Death of Jdimytai Damour

Black Friday proved to be quite black and grim for the family of Jdimytai Damour. On Black Friday 2008, Mr. Damour lost his life by performing the act of a Good Samaritan. Prior to his death, Mr. Damour was trying to protect a woman who was 8 months pregnant. Jdimytai Damour and was 34 years old and he was found asphyxiated by a crowd of Black Friday shoppers. The shoppers actually trampled him, which caused the asphyxiation.

Apparently there were some great values at Wal-Mart on black Friday but it's no excuse or reason for an innocent man to lose his life. Wal-Mart advertised extreme deals on a 50 inch television and many other deals that people were more than willing to trample anyone who got in their way.

This Wal-Mart in Valley Stream New York has apparently had problems in the past on black Friday with out of control crowds. However, it is frightening to think that an innocent man had to die due to lack of planning and sufficient personnel.

If we as a society have become so uncivilized that we place material goods and values above human life we are in serious trouble. This is repulsive and the people responsible for taking this man's life should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Mr.Damour's family has already obtained an attorney from the firm Hecht, Kleeger, Pintel and Damashek. The family plans on suing the Wal-Mart store, the mall and possibly even the Nassau county police and the county itself. The investigation is currently pending to discover which individuals are responsible for taking Mr. Damour's life. The police are currently reviewing the footage from the store cameras and from people's cell phones as well.

If this is a trend of things to come, we are in serious trouble and at risk for a complete societal depletion. The saddest part is that this young man's death was highly preventable, with the use of additional security and personnel, the crowds could have been contained and this tragedy wouldn't have happened.

This year alone Macy's department store in New York allowed 250,000 people into their store on black Friday, yet no one was killed. How is it that a mere 2,000 people cannot be controlled? Is it due to a desperation that people must obtain cheaper gifts for the holidays, or an animalistic mentality to destroy anyone that got in their way of a bargain?

I wonder how Wal-Mart will handle this scenario or if they will drag the family through court for years while the murderers of Mr. Damour walk free. Wal-Mart should be doing everything in their power to cooperate with the police investigators to solve this crime and prosecute the careless people who took Mr. Damour's life without regard.
