The Brentwood JC-250 Juice Extractor is an Inexpensive Juicing Machine
A Review of the Brentwood JC-250 Juice Extractor
Over all, the juicer works fine and it has two compartments at the bottom so that the pulp can be separated from the juice. The feeder is slender, so you have to chop the fruit up before you insert it into the juicer. Once the fruit is chopped, you just insert it into the feeder tube at the top and use the removable plastic piece to push the fruit down onto the blades. Sometimes, with firm fruits or vegetables, you might find bits of fruit still at the top of the blades because it will not push all the way through.
The blade is basically a bowl shaped metal piece with holes like a cheese grater. It spins very fast and when you put the fruit in, it slices the fruit into tiny pieces and the thick pieces get diverted to right cup and the juice flows to the left cup so that you can easily toss out the pulp. The containers hold about 18 oz (though the measurements go up to 16 oz). So at any given time, you can make around two cups of juice. If you have ever juiced before, you know that it can take a lot of raw fruit to fill up two cups.
Each piece is easy to remove. To separate the pieces, you just open the clamps and pull out the blade cup. It's fairly simple to do, yet the clamps and the blade cup are secure, so if you have young children, it would be hard for them to remove as you have to exert a little force to pull the blade piece off. And because there are no real sharp edges on the blade, a person would have to literally rub their hands into the blade to cut themself.
My problem with the juicer is that the juice and pulp filter through a small one inch squared hole that is difficult to clean. The hole is situated at an angle and no matter how hard I try, there seems to always be a bit of pulp lingering in the hole. So most of the time, I do not use the juicer because it takes too much time to clean it.
If you don't mind the cleaning part or you have a tool that can easily fit into the little filtering hole, then this is a great juicer. It is useful if you are looking for a machine that is easy to use, has simple pieces, and is inexpensive. I bought mine for about $20. I would give it about a 3.5 out of 5 rating.
