Another one of my favorite restaurants when I lived in Hawaii was The Brew Moon. The food is fantastic. I always ordered the terriyaki steak with jasmine rice. Delicious. All the food is served on fancy square plates and is presented in such a way that you almost don't know if you should eat it, it looks that good. Dinner is often started off with a variety of different pieces of bread for you to snack on. Wheat rolls, cornbread, white rolls, etc. There are also a variety of appetizers or "pupus" as they are called in the Islands. Some examples include an ahi sampler, (very popular)chicken wings, spring rolls and dill fried calamari.

The entrées are as I said, presented so beautifully. Some examples of what to order are as follows. The Terriyaki steak, Blackened Ahi Sandwich, the half pound moon burger and a variety of gourmet pizzas and salads. Please visit the website for full menu options. The prices might seem a bit high for some, but for the quality, it is well worth it.

What The Brew Moon is probably most known for is their variety of handcrafted beers. Examples include beers such as Moonlight beer,(made with 100% 2-Row Barley Malt) Moon berry wheat,(made with wheat malt) and black hole lager.(made with rich dark malt). They have been known to let you sample or do a taste test to see which beer you would prefer to order.

The atmosphere is slightly fancy, although children are welcome, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. I used to bring my son when he was eight months old. Often times he would eat a little bit of mashed potato and fall asleep in the booth. Now that he is older and more mobile, I would think twice about bringing him there. Live music is often playing in the background. Whether by piano, someone singing or a comedian cracking jokes, there is always some sort of entertainment happening at The Brew Moon.

One night when my family was visiting from Maine, we took them to eat at The Brew Moon. There was a comedian competition going on. While most of the comedians were horrible, we got a good laugh at of a few. The most laughs we got came from waiters making fun of the comedians though. The night we went there were Police Men working as bus boys for charity. It was great.

  • Upscale yet casual atmosphere.
  • A bit pricey, but worth it.
  • Children welcome, but I wouldn't recommend it unless they are well behaved.
They brew their own beer.
