Well, the final of Britain's Got Talent 2009 is on Saturday 30 May and we now have our final line up, so just who should and will take the spoils? Check out my review below for a little about all the contestants:
Diversity - The first of the two dance groups to go through to the final, Diversity are ten street dancers between the ages of 12 and 25. They are brothers and friends that have been dancing together for some time and my favourite of the two groups. Their street dancing has definitely earned them some headlines and their press generated rivalry with Flawless will no doubt do the same tomorrow.
Susan Boyle - The winner of the Britain's Got Talent first semi final needs no introduction. Having been invited to dinner with Barack Obama, championed by Demi Moore and mentioned on The Simpsons, Susan Boyle has quickly become one of the most famous singers in the world. Her renditions of "I Dreamed A Dream" and "Memories" have undoubtedly made her a star, but whether the runaway favourite will win remains to be seen.
Flawless - Flawless is the second of the street dance groups and possibly the more popular of the two. The winners of semi final 2, Flawless has 10 members aged between 20 and 32 and have been dancing together for 4 years. Their ultimate aim was to prove that the British dance groups are just as good as, if not better than, their American counterparts. Watch for a real challenge from these guys in the final.
Shaun Smith - This 17 year old student came second to Flawless in the second semi final and is undoubtedly one of the best male singers that has ever appeared on the show. His performances of "Ain't No Sunshine" and "One" have been the best of the solo male performances during Britain's Got Talent and he'll provide a little something different from the other acts.
Shaheen Jafargholi - The runner up of his semi final, 12 year old Shaheen has the voice that you would expect of a grown man rather than a school boy! He has apparently been singing since he was 5 years old and will undoubtedly steal a few teenage hearts when he sings in the final!
Stavros Flatley - Easily the funniest of the acts and the winner of Britain's Got Talent semi final 3, Stavros Flatley is comprised of father and son duo Demetrios and Michalakis (Lagi) Demetriou. The comedy dancers apparently describe their act as "two fat versions of Michael Flatly with a Greek element" and they have it absolutely right! Stavros Flatley is definitely the act that will give Susan Boyle a run for her money.
2 Grand - This grandfather and granddaughter singing duo can really sing! 2 Grand, aka John Neill (aged 76) and Sallie Lax (aged 12), came runners up in their semi final and have really captured the attention of the British public. They have been performing together for over two years now and if their performance in the semi is anything to go by then they will certainly entertain in the final.
Julian Smith - Birmingham born Julian Smith is a music teacher by day but the Saxophonist definitely hit all the right notes when he stormed his semi final. Despite trying to make it for a number of years, 39 year old Smith has always just fallen short of hitting the big time. If nothing else, his musical talent will certainly change his life if he should perform as he has done this week.
Hollie Steele - Aged just 10 years old, Hollie stumbled in her semi final and froze on stage. However, the brave little girl asked to sing "Edelweiss" again and blew everyone away the second time around. With the voice of an angel, her performances have already made her a star and she will hopefully overcome her nerves enough to enjoy her performance tomorrow.
Aiden Davis - Likened to last year's winner of Britain's Got Talent, George Sampson, Aiden is a dancer who is very like Justin Timberlake in style. Winner of his semi final, Aiden definitely has the talent to go far as a dancer. Given the unbelievable quality of his performance in the semi, he may even have a good chance of winning the competition.
I think that the Britain's Got Talent final is going to be a lot closer than the press have seemed to suggest. Although Susan Boyle's performance has been amazing, I do not think that she is as far ahead as the others as has been reported. As such, expect the closest contest yet!
