I get a lot of my office supplies and equipment from Staples and that is where I found the Brother IntelliFAX 2820. I was able to get for $179.99.
This is one of the better fax machines I have used. I can tell you that I have used several over the years. In this day of emails, I still have a lot of customers who will not use a computer, and will only accept faxes. I have to follow what my customers want, or I may have done away with using fax machines years ago.
Since I have to use one, I am glad I picked up the Brother IntelliFAX 2820. It has a lot of features that make using it a breeze. Among these are 8MB of memory that will store up to 500 pages in case you are out of paper or toner when you receive a fax. This is something that has caused me many problems with my old fax machine.
The Brother IntelliFAX 2820 will make copies at up to 15 copies per minute. The copies are not bad. They are not exactly perfect but they work quite well for what I need. You can load the paper tray (which is in the front) with 250 pages. This is something that I find convenient. The old fax machine had those crappy thermo graphic rolls that were very flimsy, and tended to roll up if you looked at them funny.
The toner cartridge that comes with the Brother IntelliFAX 2820 is good for 1000 pages, I purchased the 2200 page replacement cartridge as I send and receive somewhere in the order of 500 faxes per week.
I have been using the Brother IntelliFAX 2820 for about six weeks now, and thus far I am happy with it. One nice feature is that is has a phone attached to it, so I have placed it right next to my desk, and use it from time to time. You only need one phone line to use the Brother IntelliFAX 2820 or both fax and phone. This is something I had not seen before.
So if you have an old beat up fax machine that you are ready to toss through a window (like I wanted to) I would suggest you go take a look at the Brother IntelliFAX 2820. At the price you cannot go wrong.
