Brystan Photography Studios, in Aliso Viejo, California and Valentine's Day are a perfect compliment.
Valentine's Day is coming fast. What are you going to do for him? Like most men they have everything they need and if they don't have it chances are they don't want it. Candy, cards and red silk boxers are nice and soon forgotten. Yes, he'd be happy with golf clubs but that doesn't exactly scream romance does it? (Men have been known to kiss their clubs but it's you he should to be kissing.)
Lori Brystan, the photographer: After having been an Elite Model, she realized she had a talent for photography and so began her twenty year passion with photographing women; real women. She has an uncanny ability to look into the soul of any woman, see her inner beauty and bring it out in the most extraordinary ways. The entire experience is one that can turn an ordinary woman into a star for a day. This is professional modeling photography with all the accoutrements: hair styling, make-up and beautiful sets. Then it's lights, camera, action; creating visions that are not phony, not overdone, but incredibly special leaving many women in tears and boosting their confidence for life.
The wall of cards and letters in Ms. Brystan's Studio state it all. "I cried when my photo album came, not only did you make me feel special during the shoot, but I just could not believe the results, these are pictures that I will cherish all my life. They look like me on my best, happiest day. I feel as though you captured my soul not just a shot."
Tina, Lori Brystan's right hand, confesses that she has seen and heard women cry when they realize that they really are beautiful, no matter their shape, their perceived flaws, their self-image (usually having little to do with the reality of the beautiful women that they are) Ms. Brystan's greatest talent is in pulling that beauty out of a woman's very soul and capturing it on film. To Ms. Brystan all women are beautiful.
Give him something he'll cherish. Give him you. Men see in us what we often cannot. Love is like that. They see the morning light upon our faces as we are sleeping, the beauty of a glance, our laughter, our look of love and they retain that moment, for a life time. So what better Valentine's present than to give him something tangible to hold onto for the rest of his days?
Many women have never posed for pictures other than home photos or your average 'in and out' family shot at the mall. Occasionally we get lucky and get a nice shot that we can live with but largely the result is quite the opposite leaving a woman feeling- less than. Not because of any flaw that she may possess but because of the lack of experience and intuition of the person behind the lens.
Ms. Brystan guides you and gets you comfortable in front of the lights. Soon you feel like a model, not concerned with the end result but wrapped up in the fabulous experience of being a princess for a day. "Chin up, chin down, eyes open" Ms Brystan says, all the while smiling her beautiful comforting smile, " Great now give me a cheeky grin" " Walk towards the camera ... have fun with it, flirt" she'll say. And soon you are a model. You are wrapped up in an imaginary world in one of the most beautiful studios ingenuity can master. The lighting is professional and metered, add to that the endless amazing props, like the glorious vintage red mohair couch from the eighteenth century that makes you feel sexy the instant you touch it. She takes her time, never rushing through a session.
Rushing is just not in her vocabulary she relates." I like to be relaxed, so I don't really think about time, I'm completely involved in the moment, in this woman, in getting to know her, on a personal level, in order to capture her authenticity. That takes time. I give that to all my clients, I give it to myself- I want both of us to feel great after a shoot."
Note: I'm mother of two, grandmother of three, soon to be fifty and as a writer I've spent most of my time, secluded writing articles and standing far behind the camera during photo shoots. Lori Brystan asked me to come and experience the studio myself. In these pictures you'll see me in recent months in contrast to the fabulous photos by Ms Brystan. All I can say is" Wow!"

I'm impressed too, considering most mornings I wake up feeling 80 instead of '49'. 49 for two more months and I'm sticking to it.

Holy moly, girl! That one on the old fashioned sofa is SMOKIN'! You look gorgeous! Unfortunately, even if I put my face over your body & taped it to our bathroom mirror, my husband probably wouldn't notice! *sigh*
