The Butterfly Pavilion has a website that you can go to at www.butterflies.org. The website gives a lot of good information about the names of the plants and butterflies that you will see at their location. I found the website especially useful to help identify some of the things I had photographed while I was there.
They also have an outdoor garden and nature trail. This time of year there wasn't anything growing, but I am anxious to go back when the garden is in bloom. I love seeing and photographing different flowers and plants. It was still too early to see anything flowering in late March.
The Butterfly Pavilion calls itself a zoo of the little creatures. I didn't realize that invertebrates make up around 97% of all animals in our world. There are certainly a lot of crawly creatures and I enjoyed looking at most of them. I even let Rosie, the Chilean Rose Hair tarantula, crawl on my hand. I have lived to tell the tale in this article, Rosie, the Chilean Rose Hair Tarantula. I have also included a little YouTube video of the different sights that I saw at the pavilion.

The Butterfly Pavilion is a nonprofit organization and provides a lot of different programs. They offer education, photography classes, birthday parties, youth summer camps and the list is quite extensive. They offer memberships and as members you can participate in annual members only events. They have an event like the Member Egg stravaganza where childern can search the garden for hidden treasures.
A family membership membership is $65 annually and includes two named cardholders and their children or grandchildren. The membership allows free admission, a membership card, 3 one time guest passes, their newsletter, discounts throughout their facility, free admission to members only events. There are many other membership levels. This is definitely a worthwhile and fun place to spend some time.
