Located at 2329 East Little Creek Road, the 27th Annual Cake Show will feature breathtakingly decorated cakes and displays produced by gifted sugar artists featuring two divisions of cake competitions: Categories from "Little People" to Professional, with a special theme of "Scrapbooking Memories" and "Wedding Cake Competition; Inspired by..."
In addition to the extravagant competitions and stunning demonstrations, well known sugar artists Colette Peters, Beth Parvu, Kim Morrison, Mary Jo Dowling, Janet Brown, and Linda McClure will be instructing classes such as "creating gum paste peony," "creating gum paste iris," "creative designs using electronic cutting machines," "color 101," and more.
"The Cake Decorators of Tidewater" was established in 1981 by International Cake Exploration Societé member Marilyn Chilton, and desires to promote the art and enjoyment of cake decorating through demonstrations, exchanging recipes, and group discussions throughout Virginia, educating both the public and the members in various aspects of cake decorating.
Sponsoring a number of cake shows in the Tidewater area, "The Cake Decorators of Tidewater" is also a charitable organization contributing proceeds from past events to local charities including the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, the Norfolk SPCA, H.E.R Shelter in Portsmouth, and is a supporter of Unicef Relief for Haiti Earthquake.
