California Governor Jerry Brown signed the California Dream Act (AB 131) on Saturday October 8, 2011 stating "California needs to provide more educational opportunities to illegal immigrants." The first part of this act (AB 130) was passed in July 2011.This means that illegal immigrant students will now be elgible to apply and get financial aid to attend California Universities. The signing of this act will also enable those students to qualify for welfare starting in 2013.
The only thing these students have to do to qualify is show they have applied for legal residency.
With the U.S. economy still on a downward slide and legal residents unable to obtain good jobs or afford to go back to school; why we we ever allow this to happen? When will we ever put legal citizens ahead of illegal immigrants? If they are illegal immigrants they shouldn't even be here sucking up resources that other people need. What about all those people with children that are legal residents that cannot afford to put their kids in college? When did this become okay? Why are Americans not up in arms over this?
What about the legal citizens/students that have thousands in student loans they had to incur to get their education? Who is going to provide them with "more free educational opportunities?"
When is enough enough? We cannot even take care of our legal citizens but we are going to make it even easier for illegal immigrants to go to college and get public aid?
I think U.S. citizens (the legal ones) are getting pushed too far and my hope is we will all make a stand and refuse to take this. 14.5 million dollars could help so many U.S. citizens get their "dream" education.
