The Call

Shirley A Mandel
I walk a dark road
fraught with danger.
Robbers ride past me
with boomity-boom radios,
and the moon reveals my silhouette
to evil men lurking behind trees.
But around the bend,
as shadows fall thick around me,
a soft glow of red, yellow, and royal blue
light up a stained glass window.
The friendly colors shine steady
into the night
and blend into a sacred shape
that calls me into a House of Prayer.

I think you are an amazing writer. I'm a Christian too--actually a Sunday school teacher for small children. I really enjoy these. I'll quit filling up your mail with notices of comments now but I'm going to continue to read. Thank you for sharing these.

Careful on dark roads, Shirley! I also like the contrast in life and walks. It resonated with me. Shalom my Friend
