In the calm of the storm;
Everything is still;
The rain stops falling;
The wind dies down;
The sky becomes clear;
If only for a moment;
Yet we know that the storm is not over;
Rather, it is just beginning;
We forget what we are doing;
Stopped and paused for an eternity;
It is coming very soon;
We can feel it in the air;
Nobody remembers the punch line;
Of a joke that was told;
A childhood game is no longer being played;
And the television program is forgotten;
We don't know how violent it will be;
Or how much damage that it will cause;
There is only one thing of which we are certain:
He will be home soon.
Everything is still;
The rain stops falling;
The wind dies down;
The sky becomes clear;
If only for a moment;
Yet we know that the storm is not over;
Rather, it is just beginning;
We forget what we are doing;
Stopped and paused for an eternity;
It is coming very soon;
We can feel it in the air;
Nobody remembers the punch line;
Of a joke that was told;
A childhood game is no longer being played;
And the television program is forgotten;
We don't know how violent it will be;
Or how much damage that it will cause;
There is only one thing of which we are certain:
He will be home soon.

'There is only one thing of which we are certain:
He will be home soon.'......this thought is universal. Optimism gets us going..great poem!
Raised in a home with an alcoholic father, I went on to marry another chronic drinker, I relate well with your description of the turmoil and
tumultuous feelings that plague one in this situation, Thanks for speaking out about it. good job.
