The body of the Canon Canon SD1200IS is metal on both front and back and a shiny ring encompasses a retractable lens. With smooth, round corners the Canon SD1200IS actually looks and feels much smaller than its actual dimensions suggest. The flash is located in the top right corner and you will find the AF focusing lamp and optical viewfinder on the front as well. The Canon SD1200IS has no grip on it so you must be careful when holding it to snap a picture so not to drop it.
Despite being small and compact, the Canon SD1200IS still delivers a high-quality photo and can focus quickly for taking pictures on the go. The quality of the image is both sharp and in focus with the Canon SD1200IS. The LCD screen measures 2 ½ inches diagonally and the high-contrast is highly visible from any angle.
The Canon SD1200IS also allows you to adjust the brightness on the LCD screen, which will help to save the battery life. Speaking of battery life-the Canon SD1200IS uses a lithium-ion battery which makes the battery last much longer than on some other cameras do not use the lithium-ion battery. You will find that you can use your Canon SD1200IS for several days without running out of battery, and when it does run out of juice, charging is rather quick.
While the positives far outweigh the negatives with the Canon SD1200IS, there are a couple of downfalls to this camera. First, the lens is quite sharp at the center but it loses its sharpness towards the edges. This is noticed quite obviously when an image has been zoomed in on the Canon SD1200IS.
This camera is also very small which can make it more difficult to grip the camera properly and push the buttons. The buttons are flush with the body of the Canon SD1200IS so this makes pushing them even more difficult. A final downfall with the Canon SD1200IS is that no flash compensation exists on the camera. The flash cannot be boosted or reduced in varying degrees of light.
Overall, the Canon SD1200IS is a great compact camera with a very quick performance. Sharp and in focus photographs are produce when using the Canon SD1200IS and its compact size makes it great to take on the go. With a long-lasting battery life and a clear LCD screen, the Canon SD1200IS is an overall great buy.
