The Canterbury Hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana

The Canterbury Hotel is a Great Place to Stay!

Faith Eversole
Tucked neatly away in the heart of downtown, this Indianapolis, Indiana hotel lives up to its reputation. The thirteen-story hotel with a European flare is full of all the little extras that make it special.

The staff is courteous and more than helpful. Accepting valet parking is the first encounter with a fabulous member of the staff. The doorman and bell hop are more than eager to assist with luggage and to escort guests to their suites. Check in is a snap and is handled by enthusiastically by more staff members.

The lobby is full of European style; large chandeliers hang above the seating areas, thick Corinthian columns line the halls through arched doorways and classic floral patterns of upholstery and embossed wall treatments give the feeling of being in a whole different country. Afternoon tea is served with finger sandwiches in the lobby accompanied by a large grand piano played by an experienced and well talented pianist. Folks are almost always found lounging and enjoying the music in the Canterbury lobby.

The rooms are spacious, comfortable and extremely well coordinated and decorated. A large armoire is provided for the safe keeping of outerwear and personal belongings. You will also find a seating area, for reading the provided Indianapolis Star, consisting of a classically tailored loveseat, a high back chair and an armchair upholstered in a thick, floral patterned fabric that coordinates with the rest of the upholstery in the room. The large television is encased in an entertainment armoire with additional storage. The spacious beds are comfortable and inviting and await your arrival with chocolate truffles provided by a local chocolatier. The fully stocked mini bar, with various beverages, flavored waters, snacks, and sodas, and wireless internet access are just some of the extra amenities that will make your stay seem more like home. Thick crown molding throughout, marble tile flooring in the restroom, and raised panel doors are what give this hotel room a little something extra not found everywhere else.

Room service is provided by Danielli, a restaurant and art gallery at the hotel. And while the selection is small, the prices are competitive and the meals are perfect for the late night snack or the light appetite.

This hotel also provides a full work out room complete with television, towels, and bottled water. You will find easy access to the Circle Center Mall by simply following a hallway that directly links to the mall; no walking outside in the cold or heat to go shopping when you stay at the Canterbury.

This hotel earns a big two-thumbs up. The service is excellent, the rooms are exquisite, and the location couldn't be better. This fantastic hotel is sure to win you over with its old world European charm.
