John Hughes was born in Lansing, Michigan on February 18, 1950. He later moved to Illinois to a town called Northbrook. Mr. Hughes used Northbrook and the surrounding areas as the setting and backdrop for many of his films. John Hughes had a knack for specializing in movies directed towards teen's lives. Some of the most memorable movies from the 1980's and 1990's decades were either directed, wrote, or produced by John Hughes.

Many of the movies from the 80's that John Hughes had a part of included members of the named "brat pack". The brat pack included Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Rob Lowe, Ally Sheedy, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, and Judd Nelson. These actors were in John Hughes' movies such as Sixteen Candle, Breakfast Club, Weird Science, and Pretty in Pink. These films were a stepping stone for most of these young actors' careers. He often would write scripts with certain characters in mind for one of these actors.

As you can see, John Hughes had a very fulfilling and successful career in the movie business. He won the award of Best Producer in 1991 from ShoWest. Sadly though, we will not be seeing any more work from this gifted man as he passed away August 6, 2009. C

    Yeah Breakfast Club is one of my all time favorite movies.

    I totally loved the Brat Pack. I think they should get together and make another movie - they can be the ones with the messed up Breakfast Club kids!
